chapter 6

3:30, I finished changing my clothes. I ate lunch, and, James was no where to be found. I thought that he was in his room, but, when I went to his room, but it was empty. Everything was neat and clean. There were some paper work that I did not dare to touch, so that they don't get lost by mistake, instead I took one of his hoodies and went to my room, covered my pillow with it. I asked the sergeants and the soldiers about James, but, they said that they didn't knew where he could be. I got bored in this huge place, and, I wandered around the place, to see that every floor had the same color, the same shape, same rooms. Everything was the same. As I wandered in the last floor, there was a door that caught my attention. It was slightly open, and, it was dark in it. I walked and peaked by the door, to see my most favorite addition, books. The room was a huge library, with books of all kind, and colors. Everything that I could imagine was inside that room. I opened the door, and switched on the lights. Crystal chandeliers were hanged by the ceiling, and ladders wee connected to each section of the library. There was a long table in the middle, and I couldn't help myself to search my most favorite book, which was the Bible. As I walked on the first ladder that I saw, I found the Bible. It was thick, and it was a hardcover. I grabbed it and got off the ladder, sat on one of the chairs of the table and started reading. The only thing that could make me feel warm and connected to the earth was the Bible, it hold a precious place in my heart. I read Matthew, David, Mark and others. As my eyes felt heavy I couldn't help myself but sleep on the table without noticing that it was already noon. I dreamed of a better place, and how to help the citizens and the children's to have a better future. How to stop this genocide of literature, art, and culture. How to re cultivate our history, and how to start anew. I dreamed of the arc of Noah, and Jesus talking to his students. How he inspired people, and how he is still with us, but we are too blind to feel his presence. That a true act of kindness could turn down the tables.

I felt someone touching my shoulder, slowly. As I opened my eyes, I saw James, sitting next to me. He was looking at me with gentle eyes, and I couldn't help myself but to hug him.

"Where have you been all day, I was worried" I said.

"Sorry that I didn't inform you, forgive me my love" he whispered, and as our eyes touched, our lips met. He looked at the book that I was holding under my arm.

"So I see you read the Bible" he said

"Yeah, it's my favorite book, like, why do you need this huge library? " I asked curiously.

"My father was a book collector, and, as we heard that the world was about to end, my dad build this place, and bought all the books all over the world, and put them here. You could read that every section is from a different country. There is Spain, China, Japan, Armenia, Syria, and many more." He explained. He took my hand and kissed it gently. After that, he showed me all kind of books, big and small. He also said that I can stay here more often if I get bored, and read as much as I want.

While eating dinner, I asked him if he had any plans for a brighter future. He told me that he is still thinking about it.

"Why don't we build tunnels underground, to help the citizens reach this place if there is an emergency. And I can teach the children how to write and read, how to multiple and I can teach them literature, art, and science. Plus we can replace a room, from this building, to help people like us, how to use their powers, so that we can improve our military service. What do you say? " I asked. He looked at me in shock.

"How do you know all that, plus, we can improve our hospitals, and our agriculture" he continued. We both chuckled, and planned that from tomorrow on, we will start drawing the map and concentrating on how to build the canals that will lead to this place.
