Chapter 116

It has been twelve days since GrandMaster Tyl, and I brought back the White Walker, the blue undead, and I must say that I discovered many things from the specimen. Besides an intense fire, the undead can also be killed using a metal called Dragonglass or Obsidian.

It has the same color as an Obsidian, but it is very different from a regular Obsidian. It contains magic inside of it.

The magic inside the metal is Fire in nature and is inert. It is a contained magic that cannot be brought out, or it will explode.

However, for some unknown reason, when used against the White Walker, the magic inside the metal activates and burns the flesh of the White Walker. A single thrust to the vital organ of the While Walker will kill them.

Because of this reason, I ordered a lot of Dragonglass from Stannis Baratheon. With him busy with the war effort against his own brother, I managed to secure a lot of Dragonglass, a few dozen tons of them.

While Dragonglass is sharper than iron and steel, it is more brittle. Because of this reason, Stannis wants a good amount of iron and steel ingots in exchange for a large quantity of Dragonglass.

He even took bronze to equip his army. He is that desperate. He did not have the numbers to beat his little brother and tried to increase his army's quality to compensate for that.

"Your highness."

I snap from my thoughts when I hear Bakir's voice behind my lab door.

"Come in."

I wipe my hand and look at the door, where I can see Bakir get inside my lab.

"What is it, Bakir?"

"The Lannister's Army finally reached the crossroad, your highness."

"Oh? Do they only want to use the crossroad and not attack them?"

"Sadly, no, your highness."

I sigh a little. I know this will happen. Tywin is on a warpath when he hears his territory burned to the ground and wants revenge. He wants to burn anyone standing in his path. A lot of towns and villages have been burned down by his order.

"Who is the one leading them?"

"A combination of both, your highness. Jaime Lannister and Tywin Lannister are the commanders of this expedition. Tywin will be the Grand Marshal of the army but Jaime will be the General in the field."

"I see. So Tywin decided not to go to King's Landing, huh?"

"Yes. With the Tyrel busy marching to the Storm's End, he decides to focus on the north and hold the Stark before marching back to King's Landing."

"I see."

"They arrive at the Crossroad and besiege it."

"Tell me the result."

"Of course, your highness."

|3rd POV|

"Fire!"

The sound of a musket being fired can be heard throughout the battlefield. The sound of the gun makes the horse afraid and makes them not very effective. Not only muskets, but the defender also used cannons, tower ballista, and Trebuchet to bombard the army from far away.

The cannons are placed behind the wall, the tower ballistas are placed on the large tower, and the trebuchets are placed behind the wall on the higher ground.

"Keep firing!"

The one defending the ground is the combination of two lords that swear to remain neutral (secretly, they are supporting the Dragon King) against the attacking army waving the banner of the Golden Lion.

Outside the castle, a thousand men hold a musket in their hands while standing behind a long wall of wooden shields covering their front and some of their heads. They use the shield by ducking under the shield while reloading and poke out when they are ready to fire their musket.

"Reload!"

On the ground, the captain of one of the units shouted while reloading his gun. After reloading, he looks around for a few seconds, ensuring his unit is ready to shoot before saying.

"Fire!"

They peek out of their shield and fire their musket. After fighting for more than fifteen minutes, the captain suddenly says.

"Retreat!"

The soldier quickly picks up all their belongings and quickly runs back to the castle, where they quickly get on the wall with the others. They slowly retreat while also firing their muskets and reloading them while walking.

They have been training this maneuver every day for months. They can now reload while walking.

Standing outside the tent on top of the hill watching over the battlefield, is Tywin Lannister. He has a massive frown on his face at the situation on the battlefield. In his rage moment, he made a situation that he soon regretted.

He attacked the neutral ground, and now his army cannot march to the north.

In the beginning, The Crossroad lords allow him and his army to go to the other side without a problem, but after he gets the news of Dorne making a mess in his home, he decides to attack the Crossroad lords.

In his mind, they are supporting the Dragon King, and because the Dorne is an ally to the Dragon King, they are also a friend to the Dorne.

Because of this reasoning, they decide to declare war on neutral ground.

At first, he thought the battle would only last a few days, but he was wrong. The fight already lasted for a week, and his army started to grow tired, and they were not even fighting the northern army.

"Dammit! What kind of weapon is that?! The horse is too afraid of getting close to the enemy."

He knows that the horse will get used to the sound, but they already lose the momentum of their march. After thinking about his next step, Tywin decides something he never thought he will do in this fight; he orders a retreat.

"Sound the horn! We are retreating! We cannot waste more men and ration fighting this battle! We will wait for them in Harrenhal!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"And that is what happened, your highness. The Lannister Army gets pushed back, and they decide to stay in Harrenhal. Out of thirty-one thousand men, the Lannister loses two thousand men in the fight. Most of them die in the last Battle of Crossroad. That's not counting the one who is deserting."
"What about the defender?"
"They lost seven hundred men, your highness. A lot of people get injured in battle, but with the help of a hundred White Cats there, they will see another day. Next, they used a lot of black powder to make a trap bomb and for their muskets."
"Give them help, will ya? Send a supply for them and make sure people cannot see who is sending the supply."
"Of course, your highness."
"Is there anything else?"
"Vale's Knight starts to move north, your highness. Lysa Arryn orders the head of all of your supporters in Vale."
"Do you think we should join the chaos now?"
"I think we should, your highness. While it was not an optimal option, we still need to help our 'ally' even though we did not declare them our ally."
I release a sigh and say.
"Should I lead the battle?"
"No. We should send one of our generals. They have been itching to join the battle. Maybe send two of them."
"Very well. I will send two of our generals to the battlefield and let them bring four thousand men; they can lead two thousand men each. Make sure to bring a dozen Black Dogs and White Cats each. We don't want to be seen as an invader and make the other lords join together and defend against an outsider. Make sure the others only see us as a reinforcement rather than an invasion force. I know someone will use this movement to make the other make a coalition to attack us. Don't let them use this."
"Of course, your highness."
I nod my head and watch him walk away from my lab. What with this world and war? There is always war happening.
