9 years later
Draco awoke sweating. He flew up only to slap his forehead in the metal bar that was running through his apartment. He groaned laying back down as he rubbed his head trying to stop the migraine that was promising to make his day that much worse. He stood up, put on a shirt that he knew needed to be washed and put on a black hoodie to hide the stains. He pulled out his old and cracked phone to check the striker website to see the news.
"The knights guild had just bought the rights to another low ranked Door"
"A C-ranked Door was mislabeled as a D-rank. No-one was hurt, they found a return stone and made a hasty retreat."
Draco sighed as he put his phone back into his pocket. He continued to walk to his job as a janitor at a small guild known as The busters. He thought it was a stupid name but they offered him a job after his mom talked to his cousin for an hour and a half. His cousin was the vice president of the guild and is a total nob in Draco's opinion, but he would never voice it out loud as he hadn't turned 19 yet.
19 was the age that a human was allowed to take off the necklace or rather the collar that they received after birth which made it so their title was smothered. The government thought this was the best way to do it after a middle schooler inherited the title The One Who Burns and then proceeded to unintentionally burn the school down with people inside. After that anyone under the age of 19 had to come in and get the device put on them. Draco's mom had taken him in to receive the collar when he was 10. he hadn't gotten my title yet so he had no idea what it even could be.
Some of the richer families children that had their title before the collaring started to buy them clothing and weapons for when they turn 19, in preparation for when they wanted to start using their title, or if they wanted to join the Striker's private school's to receive instant training and benefits. While others like crafters could go to a Striker's public school to help them discover how to use their abilities which normally only lasted a year. Draco reached to open the door to the Busters guild house when the door was thrown open, slamming into Draco's chest and sending him 8 feet before sliding on the back to a stop.
Draco clutched his chest gasping for breath as he looked to see what hit him, only to see busters attack force storming out of the building in their raiding clothes. He scrambled to get up and out of there way as he knew anyone of these people if they had a problem with him could wipe him off the planet with little more than a flick of their wrist. The worst part, they were all only rank D.
The one he made sure to give an even bigger birth to, though out of respect was the head spell caster. That's what he was hoping to be, a magician. That way he could go into Doors and make money, and he wouldn't have to get up close and personal with the monsters in the dark. luckily he only had a few more days till he got his collar taken off. Then he could quit his terrible job, get his Striker license and maybe apply for the striker school if he was a crafter, and finally be able to move himself out of that god's forsaken apartment.
He watched the strikers all walk around the block until the last one disappeared from view. He snapped his head around as a hand came flying for the back of his head, *slap* Draco groaned as his cousin scowled and yelled at him to get into work as he was currently late. He would be helping the people in storage today till early into the morning as what always happened when he was even a second late. The days started to slowly inch by, nothing as exciting as the attack team throwing him 8 feet through the air happened for another three day's.
On the fourth day as he was coming home from his shift, he found his mom and a girl he vaguely recognized standing next to her while they both held onto a cake with what looked like candles arranged into a 19 on it all lit. Draco took a second then sputtered what could only be described as gibberish before his mother ushered him into the room and embraced him in a hug. Draco pulled back from his mothers embrace and questioned the other girl. Before his mother could say a word the girl threw herself onto Draco with open arms. "What's up Door Knob, been a while" it only took a second for Draco to remember the memory.
