Chapter 51: The New Plan

"Basilisk, what's that?"

Seeing Harry and Hermione looking at him curiously, Ivan pulled out a sheet of paper that had been torn out of a very old book. This was the information he had specially prepared a few days ago and carried with him in case this situation arose now.

Ivan handed the page to Harry and Hermione and said, "This is the introduction about the basilisk, but don't tell the librarian, if she knew I was destroying books, she would never let me in again."

Harry and Hermione couldn't wait to read:

"Of the many fearsome beasts and monsters that roam our land, there is none more amazing or more deadly than the Basilisk, otherwise known as the King of Snakes. This snake, which can reach gigantic size and live for hundreds of years, hatches from a hen's egg, hatched by a toad. Its methods of killing are most marvelous, for apart from its deadly and venomous fangs, the Basilisk has a murderous gaze, and all who look into its eyes will suffer instant death. Spiders flee before the Basilisk, for it is their mortal enemy, and the Basilisk only flees from the crowing of the cock, which is fatal to it."

It was as if suddenly someone had turned on a light in the darkness, Harry said excitedly, "The basilisk is the mortal enemy of spiders, that's why Aragog was afraid of it... I get it, Ivan! The monster hiding inside the Chamber of Secrets is the Basilisk, no wonder I can hear that voice every time there's an attack and no one else can, it's because I can understand the language of snakes!"

"Look at this, it says the Basilisk's gaze is deadly, but this is strange, the students aren't dead, just petrified," Hermione said as she pointed to the page,

Ivan explained, "That's because none of them looked directly at it, the first time the Basilisk attacked there was water on the ground, so Filch's cat must have seen it in the reflection of the water, so it was petrified."

Following Ivan's train of thought, Hermione analyzed the other attacks and said, "In the second attack, Penelope saw the Basilisk through Weeping Myrtle, and Myrtle can't die a second time. As for Justin, he must have seen it when he was looking in the mirror."

Harry said hesitantly, "Wait a minute, I still don't understand, if the basilisk is really as big as the book says, how can it travel through the school and not be seen?"

Ivan quickly explained, "It's the pipes, Harry, it must travel through the pipes, that's why you can always hear it."

Hermione looked at the page in her hand and after careful analysis said, "The rooster crowing is fatal, and all of Hagrid's Roosters was killed when the Chamber of Secrets was opened because the heir would never want a rooster anywhere near the castle, and now we know everything."

"Except for one thing, we don't know who the heir is,"

Seeing Harry and Hermione suddenly look at him, Ivan smiled bitterly and said, "Don't look at me, I don't know either."

"We have to piece together the clues from fifty years ago, Fifty years ago, Voldemort opened the Chamber of Secrets, killed Weeping Myrtle and then blamed Hagrid for it all. Now we know that the monster in the Chamber of Secrets is a basilisk, Hagrid's roosters have been killed and Ron has been under the Imperius curse, so the heir must be among us," Hermione said.

Ivan added deliberately, "If they're from outside the school, we can't know. Wait a minute, we found a strange diary on Christmas Day, it belonged to a student fifty years ago, Tom Riddle, but there was nothing written in it, it can't be a coincidence."

Harry said quickly, "Riddle won a special award for services to the school fifty years ago, Ron and I saw the trophy in the trophy room."

Hermione frowned and said, "Didn't he win it because he caught whoever opened the Chamber of Secrets? But Hagrid said, "It was Voldemort who blamed me...". Oh my God!"

The atmosphere was eerily quiet, everyone thought of a possibility.

"Tom Riddle is Voldemort!" whispered Ivan after a while.

Hermione said with a pale face, "Ivan, what about the diary? I can't believe we kept Voldemort's stuff around. We have to give it to Dumbledore, it's probably dark magic."

Ivan touched his pocket but it was empty, he froze, his face turned pale and he said, "Don't worry, I've been keeping it with me.... This is bad, I left it in the common room."

The three of them looked at each other and ran towards the castle.

In the diary, Tom was feeling very puzzled, even a little crazy.

Over the past four months, he had revealed a lot of high-level forbidden magical knowledge and had managed to gain the trust of that dirty blood named Ivan Mason.

But suddenly, the other party stopped talking to him for a long time.

Could it be that his plan had been discovered?

Tom Riddle suddenly thought about that idea but rejected it completely.

As cunning as that damned dirty-blood was, an eleven-year-old boy could not simply give up the powerful magic at his fingertips.

In his opinion, Ivan should be just like him, addicted to power, he had seen the weakness in Ivan's mind, he just needed a little more before he could control him. as he had controlled the previous boy.

But that damned dirty blood disappeared at the most crucial moment, and all his hard work and careful planning had been wasted.

If possible, Tom Riddle would love to run out of the diary and kill Ivan with an Avada Kedavra.

Just when he was wishing for that. the diary suddenly opened, it was the previous boy's diary.

It was wonderful, Tom could feel the other person injecting his life into the diary, allowing him to regain his strength.

It was time to end it all, a cold smile tugged at Tom Riddle's lips as he devised a new plan to kill the abominable dirty blood.

He would personally complete Salazar Slytherin's noble cause and purify the dirty-bloods of Hogwarts.
