Chapter 67: Animagus

Inside the room, Ivan opened a thick magic book, turned to the Animagus page and rechecked all the steps and points of the transformation.

After confirming everything, he took a deep breath, took the potion and drank it.

As soon as the dark golden syrup flowed down his throat, a powerful mana began to surge in his body, it became stronger and stronger. (The magical power will begin to be called mana).

The mana was like a river that continuously grew in his body.

In one breath, he could feel that his whole body was filled with mana.

His body was full of churning mana, and the mana began to overflow from him uncontrollably.

It reminded Ivan of the first time his magic had surged at the age of five, when he thought he had some kind of superpower.

But it was short-lived and not as intense as this one.

After another five seconds, Ivan felt he had reached his limit, the amount of mana in his body was so uncomfortable that he couldn't go on, he had to use his magic to let it out, or he would die from it.

"Animagus!" shouted Ivan.

As soon as the words left his mouth, his body began to change rapidly.

Powerful mana filled the room in an instant, under the impact of the mana, everything in the room was scattered.

Even Dobby, who had been guarding the door, felt the furious mana and silently opened the door, looking in horror at Ivan sitting inside, his hands gripping the doorknob in fear, his two bulbous eyes as wide as ever.

In the center of the room, Ivan's muscles writhed and trembled. It was as if there were worms all over his body, his whole body was transforming.

When he used the multijuice potion last year, Ivan felt like his skin, blood and bones were melting.

But the feeling now was much stronger compared to the multijuice potion, and the intense pain almost made him faint. Ivan bit his lip, he said to himself 'I must resist, if I faint now, I will fail, then everything I have done will be in vain'.

He concentrated and tried to control the raging mana in his body.

As he held on, his body shrank at a rate visible to the naked eye and began to transform into an animal.

His bones transformed, black fur appeared on the surface of his skin, and large furry ears grew on the top of his head.

After about twenty minutes, there was a shadow in Ivan's bedroom.

The restless mana gradually calmed down, the effect of the potion fading. Ivan knew he succeeded, he shook his head, his hands now had claws and everything in the room had become gigantic to him.

Although it was unclear what the size of the animal was, the size was certainly small.

Ivan remembered what the book said about Animagi: The transformations of an Animagus are usually limited to non-magical creatures, this is because the wizard's mana and the mana of magical creatures have a subtle but essential difference, and transforming into a magical creature such as a Phoenix, Dragon, etc., would have unpredictable consequences.

Also, an Animago cannot turn into a random animal, the transformation is based on one's character and weight.

Ivan's body was very small, so he became a small animal.

The key was his personality, as he considered himself a cautious guy.

'A small non-magical creature with a cautious personality, 'God, I'm a mouse like Peter Pettigrew!', Ivan was depressed when he thought about this, that would be the worst outcome.

He would have preferred to be a bird, it was the most convenient, but given his intense fear of heights, this possibility was unlikely. But as long as it wasn't a mouse, any other animal would do. He had even imagined he could become a panda because he was from China before he crossed over.

But at his current size, a panda was out of the question, perhaps.

While Ivan was thinking, Dobby, the house elf, entered the room as he shivered, looking at Ivan with horror and caution as he approached, "Oh my god, the lord has turned into a black cat!"

"What, I turned into a black cat?" Ivan sighed in relief knowing he hadn't turned into a rat.

A black cat, was a surprising result.

In the wizarding world, black cats have been considered since ancient times as a symbol to ward off evil spirits, and have great significance. Black cats are believed to have strong mana, Ivan had looked through all the Animagus records over the last millennium, but no witch or wizard had ever turned into a black cat.

"Mr. Ivan Masson's magic has gone mad and Dobby doesn't know what to do! Stupid Dobby, useless Dobby, Dobby must do something!" cried Dobby loudly as he tugged at his ears.

"No, Dobby, I'm perfectly fine, you don't have to do anything and you don't have to punish yourself," Ivan said hurriedly, but no words came out, only meows.

Dobby pounced on Ivan after saying, "Dobby knows, Mr. Ivan must go to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Sickness and Injury, Dobby must save Ivan Masson."

When he heard that Dobby was going to save him, what Dobby had done last term to save Harry made every hair on Ivan's body stand up, he didn't want to die at the hands of a house elf.

He had just taken a magic strengthening potion and had completed his first transformation, which had drained his mana so much that he wouldn't be able to return to his original form for a while, but he could recover with some rest.

But Dobby had no intention of giving him time to recover.

Ivan hurried to stop Dobby, still meowing a couple of times, which made him look downright cute, and hurried to jump aside to avoid Dobby.

Damn, what's a black cat for but to be cute?

With his feline instincts, Ivan found himself very agile, dodging several of Dobby's grabs, but he knew something was wrong when he saw that Dobby was about to snap his fingers.

With a meow, Ivan jumped onto the balcony and escaped through the open window.

It was a wonderful feeling, Ivan was like a real cat, he jumped over the window sill and made it to the first floor unharmed.

Seeing that Dobby had followed him, Ivan didn't delay, running forward in an instant, and after rounding a corner, he quickly hid behind a garbage can.

A few seconds later, he watched as Dobby, with big teary eyes, ran down the street, not realizing that he was hiding.
