Harry and Ron then hurried off to Transfiguration class, and Ivan went to Charms Class.
Within minutes, news of what had happened in Divination had spread throughout Hogwarts, and Ivan immediately paid the price for his bad joke.
In second-year Charms class, no one except Colin and Ginny was willing to go near him.
Professor Flitwick explained the levitation spell at the podium, the young wizards were distracted and casting furtive glances at Ivan, as they had heard about Professor Trelawney's prophecy.
Of course, Harry, who had a clear sign of bad luck on his teacup, was a dead man, and if bad luck was contagious, Ivan would be the next to see the same omen.
But what if it happens again?
All the young wizards took a breath and tried to shrink their bodies back.
Ivan had never known wizards to be so superstitious before, even though they clearly have strong powers, they are afraid of a black stray dog.
Ginny explained the ominous significance of in Grimm to Ivan and Colin. She said her uncle had seen one before and it died after 24 hours.
From the look on her face, she seemed worried that Harry might die at any moment.
When they arrived at the auditorium for lunch, Ivan saw Harry and Ron with the same sad faces, and Hermione with a look full of disdain.
"Ron, please, you're scaring Colin and Ginny!" Hermione pushed a plate of dressing at him and looked at Ivan and explained, "McGonagall just told us in class that Death Omens are Professor Trelawney's preferred way of welcoming new students, she predicts the death of a student every year, but the accuracy rate is zero!"
"You don't understand Hermione!" Ron muttered, spooning a spoonful of the dressing onto his plate, saying slowly, "Harry and Ivan have seen one, it's really, really bad!"
"I don't see anything bad. If a person sees omens, and then dies of fright. Then the omen is not an omen, but the cause of death," Hermione said with an air of superiority, "Think of Trelawney's other prediction, she told Ivan to watch out for spiders."
Ron wrinkled his nose uneasily, because what he feared most was spiders.
"She was right, we should watch out for spiders. I mean, Harry's omen in the teacup is clear." Ron said vehemently, "Accept the truth, Hermione! Professor Trelawney said your aura isn't right and you have no talent for Divination."
At his words, Hermione slammed the Arithmancy book in her hand against the table with such force that mincemeat and pieces of carrot flew everywhere and said, "If getting a good grade in Divination means I have to pretend to see a spider or an omen of tea crumb death, then I might as well not take the subject! It's garbage compared to my Arithmancy class!"
Under the gaze of the others, she grabbed her bag and walked out of the auditorium.
"What are you talking about?" Ron smiled uncomfortably. "Your Arithmancy class hasn't even started yet."
Hermione's just worried about me and Harry, she wouldn't want us to see a dog and die like that, would she?" said Ivan, stuffing the cake in his mouth.
"Of course not, but.... It's very, very bad!", Ron replied sternly.
His prophecy seemed to have come true, or perhaps it was the second bad omen.
At four o'clock in the afternoon, just outside the History of Magic classroom, Ivan saw Hagrid run past with Malfoy. Malfoy had a deep, long cut on his arm, and blood was flowing dripping to the ground, many Slytherin students following him.
The second year students who had just left the classrooms were stunned. They opened their mouths in surprise and did not know what had happened.
It was Harry who had the omen of death, why was it Malfoy who was injured?
Soon the story spread that Malfoy had been attacked in Hagrid's classroom by a winged beast with the head of a hawk and the body of a horse called Buckbeak.
Why, if you ask, was there a winged beast with the head of a hawk and the body of a horse in the class? Well, it was Hagrid's first class on the protection of magical creatures, and to impress everyone, he brought twelve Hippogriffs to class.
Unsurprisingly, the lesson ended in complete and utter failure. Although all the Gryffindors could attest that Malfoy had brought this on himself by being attacked by the Hippogriffs, he still cast a bloody shadow over the already heavy atmosphere of the school.
Ivan ran after them to the school hospital, where he saw that Madam Pomfrey had patched Malfoy up in barely a minute, but Malfoy was still pale, saying his arm hurt and shouting nonsense about telling his father and that he would fire Hagrid.
If it weren't for the presence of so many people, Ivan would have cast a "silencing" curse on him.
After about five minutes, Snape came rushing in and looked at Ivan as the latter exited the school infirmary.
A moment later, Hagrid emerged from inside with a look of defeat.
"I'm afraid that's a new record, Ivan!" said Hagrid dejectedly, "I don't think there's ever in history been a teacher who would be fired on the first day of work. Ruin everything. Professor Snape said I shouldn't have taught my first class on Hypogriffs, and he said he would report this to Dumbledore and the School Board."
Ivan shook his head and tried to console him, "It's not your fault, I just found out everything It's all because of Malfoy!"
"No, it's because I'm too hasty. I should have spent some time showing them Earthworms or something else, than taking out the Hippogriffs. I thought I could make the first lesson fun," Hagrid pulled out a large handkerchief and wiped his eyes.
"Anyway, I have something to tell you, Hagrid!" Ivan sighed, not knowing how to comfort him, "If there's any trouble, come to me for help."
"Thanks, I feel better." said Hagrid and pulled Ivan to him, hugging him so tightly that his bones almost broke.
Then he left the castle, wiping away his tears, and Ivan looked at him with concern.
Ivan headed to the Great Dining Room for dinner and returned to the common room, not seeing Harry, Ron or Hermione, who had gone off somewhere. He sat absently in front of the fire, discussing the day's Charms class with Colin.
When it got dark, the three of them ran back.
They went to see Hagrid. After the goodbye with Ivan, Hagrid had gone back to his hut and had drunk so much that when they arrived he was lying on the floor, drunk, tears streaming down his cheeks.
That wasn't the worst of it, but Hagrid received a letter from the school board stating that Lucius Malfoy had lodged a formal complaint with the school board and the Ministry of Magic over the incident, and that he was determined to have Hagrid fired.
