Chapter 118: Battle with the Werewolf

Hermione rushed into the store, which was empty.

The room was pitch black, and Crookshanks jumped onto the counter between two thin, half-lit candles. Their light was dim in the dark room.

Next to the candles was a cup of coffee that was still piping hot. The chair in front of the counter was at his back, and some newspapers were scattered on the floor. All this spoke, without words, of the haste of the owner's departure.

"Come in, Ivan!" Hermione quickly looked around, trying to find something that would help them resist the werewolf. She said anxiously, "The teachers will be here soon, we must go on..."

She hadn't finished her words when she heard a loud bang behind her.

Hermione turned sharply and saw that Ivan did not follow her, in fact, he closed the door behind her.

Hermione was surprised and immediately understood Ivan's purpose behind this: he wanted to protect her. he wanted to stop the werewolf outside on his own!

"No, no, no!" Hermione's eyes suddenly widened, and she ran for the door, pushing it open in panic.

The tent door wouldn't budge because Ivan locked it from the outside.

"Alohomora!" Hermione gasped violently, she felt a fear she had never felt before. She was worried for Ivan's safety.

To her, the monster outside was almost invincible.

With Ivan staying outside, it wouldn't take long for the beast to kill him, she couldn't let that happen. She frantically tapped the lock with her wand.

With a click, the lock on the door opened.

Hermione pushed out with all her might but it was no use, even though the door was open, Ivan blocked it with his own body and she couldn't make it move.

Outside the tent, Ivan used his thin body to build the last line of defense between the werewolf and the woman he loves.

"Get in, Ivan!" Hermione was still shedding tears, collapsed and fell to the ground as she screamed in a miserable voice, "Please get in! You can't deal with that monster alone. They will kill you."

Outside the tent, Ivan's back was against the door.

He heard a pained and terrified voice from Hermione, and his heart almost stopped beating, he could feel her banging on the door behind him and wanting to save him.

No, no, he couldn't let Hermione out!!!!

It was too dangerous, he had to protect her.

Hermione was right, if they could hold Greyback long enough, the professors who got the news would eventually arrive.

But before that, he couldn't let this monster get anywhere near Hermione, no matter what.

This was his responsibility, his duty as a man.

Ivan might not be able to explain his actions. All he knew was that when you like someone so much, you must protect them in times of danger.

He took a deep breath and made up his mind.

From now on, this was a fight that belonged to him alone.

Even if he was torn apart by Greyback, even if he himself became a werewolf, he would definitely not give half a step.

This was his battlefield, and this door behind him was his last line of defense.

Ivan held his wand firmly, pointing it at the approaching werewolf. The light at its tip grew brighter and brighter. He waved his wand and cast several spells.

A silvery white light shot out from Ivan's wand and Greyback didn't dodge, a terrified snarl escaped from inside his mouth as he was hit by the spell and flew backwards before picking himself off the ground again and accelerating.

Turning into a werewolf caused Greyback to lose all sanity.

He was now nothing more than a monster who knew nothing but to bite and kill, and was incapable of feeling pain.

Ivan's curse left wounds on Greyback's body, but just as before, it did not stop him.

Instead, it enraged him even more.

He was getting closer, and in the moonlight, Ivan was beginning to see his own reflection in the large, yellow, maddened eyes.

The gray wolf ran at incredible speed, and Ivan sent another spell that hit it, making it bleed.

By now, he had so much blood all over his body that not a single one of his wounds could be seen. However, after being hit by Ivan's spell, he was getting braver and more frantic.

That's how werewolves are, when they are in their human form, they, like ordinary wizards, can communicate with others in a normal way, many of them are as gentle and rational as Professor Lupin.

But after transforming, they become the most dangerous magical creatures in the magical world.

In Newt-Scamander's Fantastic Creatures and Where to Find Them, werewolves are at the top when it comes to how dangerous they are. Their level of danger is comparable to that of other magical creatures such as fire dragons, basilisks, centaurs, manticores, etc.....

A werewolf can handle dozens of adult wizards at a time. As the leader of the werewolves, Greyback is the most brutal and ferocious of them. It should be impossible for such a young wizard of Ivan's age to handle him.

The masked wizard, on the other hand, had stopped attacking. He just stood there with his wand and looked like he was waiting to see Ivan being torn apart by Greyback.

Ivan leaned against the store door and gasped heavily, behind him was Hermione crying.

She kept pushing at the door, not giving up, and screaming Ivan's name even after her voice became hoarse.

In front of him, Greyback was steadily approaching.

Ivan parried his attacks. With his amount of mana, if he continued to use those spells to attack Greyback, he would only be wasting what he had left.

It seemed as if he had given up completely, but the light on the tip of his wand was getting brighter and brighter.

Ivan's eyes kept closing on Greyback, as all of his magical power built up in his wand.

Since ordinary spells had limited the damage to the werewolf, he thought of resorting to dark magic.

As long as he could protect Hermione, Ivan would not hesitate to use the most evil and forbidden spells he could find. Watching the werewolf get closer and closer, he knew he had no way out.

In the icy wind, Greyback, covered in blood, lunged at Ivan.

He waved his claws, wanting to tear the boy in front of him apart.

He wanted to rip the boy's throat open. He couldn't wait to taste his blood.

Watching Greyback approaching, Ivan stood motionless. He could smell the pungent scent of blood coming towards him. His whole body shuddered, but his right hand holding his wand was as steady as rock. He was prepared to use a dark magic that he had not yet fully mastered, that would consume all the mana he had left. He had only one chance to do so, and failure meant death.

He had to wait for the opportunity; Greyback needed to get close enough to him!

Doing so was tantamount to gambling his own life; either he would drive the werewolf back, or he would be torn apart!

For Hermione's sake, Ivan would not back down, and he saw Greyback's misshapen, sharp fangs closing in on his neck.

At that moment, he jerked his wand upwards and pointed it at the werewolf's head, emitting an intense blue light.
