Chapter 142: A true prophecy

Peter Pettigrew couldn't be crazy. He was definitely up to something.

They had been trying to catch Peter, but because of the current situation....

Ivan finally understood, wouldn't Peter want to capture Black? Dumbledore wasn't at Hogwarts tonight, but Snape was. Peter knew that Snape was against Black and was ready to take advantage of it.

He just had to let Snape know that Black would sneak into the castle tonight, and there would be no need for Peter to do it with his bare hands. Snape would take care of everything. After all, with how much the latter hates Black, he could have him caught first and handed over to the Dementors outside the castle, instead of bringing him to trial.

If Black was gone, no one would know that Peter Pettigrew was still alive. No one would be able to prove that he had sold Harry's parents. Then, he can publicly reappear in a grandiose way, telling everyone that he's been suffering humiliation for twelve years in rat form, staying by Harry's side, silently protecting him from whatever harm Sirius might do....

Ivan's back was drenched in cold sweat. That was terrible!

That must definitely be Peter Pettigrew's plot. Since last night, when Professor Lupin's identity as a werewolf was revealed to everyone, the plot had already begun.

Even without his plan, tonight, Peter would lure Black to the castle.

Ivan forced himself to calm down. It stood to reason that Peter Pettigrew didn't know when Black would come. After all, even if he passed the password to him through Crookshanks, Black wouldn't necessarily act on his plan. So Peter Pettigrew would need to keep Snape in the Gryffindor common room.

This was too unrealistic. Unless, he could keep up with Sirius' movements.

There are many ways to do this, but for Pettigrew, the only practical one was....

"The Marauder's Map!"

Ivan suddenly realized that he had been ignoring this magical object that can locate all the people in the castle!

When Professor Lupin confiscated the Marauder's map yesterday, Ron was there too. Peter must have known it was in Professor Lupin's possession. Then he made Ron go to Lupin's office. He must have been there to find the Marauder's map!

"Ron?!" shouted Harry.

The three of them were at the bedroom door. Inside, through the dim light coming from the window,

Ivan saw Ron lying on his back on his four-poster bed. He appeared to be asleep, with the curtains around the bed pulled down.

He could sense that Peter Pettigrew was hiding in Ron's jacket pocket. Maybe he didn't get a chance to take the map, maybe he didn't find the time. He couldn't search the office in front of everyone in the school, so the map had to be in Professor Lupin's office.

Ivan hurried around the corner, as long as he found the Marauder's map before Peter Pettigrew did, there would be no bad incidents tonight.

"Ivan, what are you doing?" said Hermione in a panic.

"I'm going to Professor Lupin's office to get the Marauder's Map!" said Ivan quietly.

"I'm going with you too..." said Hermione.

"No, you and Harry stay here to keep an eye on Ron!" Ivan looked at Hermione and told her uneasily. "Remember, until I get back, be careful!"

"I know, you too!" Hermione hesitated, then quickly stepped forward to hug Ivan.

He hugged her tightly and felt her warmth in his arms, then turned and left the common room, running to Professor Lupin's office as fast as he could. He ran down the spiral staircase and thought only of the Marauder's Map.

At the corner of the fourth floor, he and Professor Trelawney bumped loudly into each other.

She looked like she had just returned from the kitchen. He had the smell of alcohol all over him. He also had two bottles in his hand. She dropped them on the floor when Ivan hit her.

Professor Trelawney growled, "Be careful and watch where you're going!"

"Sorry, Professor!" Ivan rushed to help her up.

"Aaah, it's you, my dear boy!" Professor Trelawney gripped Ivan's arm tightly, and suddenly came closer, her huge eyes staring at him, whispering in a vague voice. "My dear, I have found that the signs about you are becoming clearer and clearer..."

"Thank you, teacher! I'll be careful." Ivan broke away from her, and the strong smell on his body made him uncomfortable.

"No, you don't understand!" Professor Trelawney muttered, "Disaster, misfortune, approaching..."

As if to match her words, a cold wind blew, and the nearby candle illuminating the surroundings went out.

The dim corridor became even gloomier. In the darkness, Ivan could only see Trelawney's vague figure.

"It's death, dear!" Professor Trelawney's voice was like a whisper, intermittent and faint, "It's coming, it's coming, and it's hovering like a vulture over your head. It's getting closer and closer, it's right over the castle!"

Ivan did not speak, he looked around uneasily, and did not want to be seen in such an embarrassing scene by the others.

Fortunately, only the two of them were in the hallway.

Professor Trelawney kept talking. Listening to her words, Ivan began to feel that someone would die soon in the castle.

This is definitely not good news. Will it be Sirius Black o....

Of course, to Ivan, he's probably just talking nonsense.

"Darling, will you choose Divination class next year?" asked Professor Trelawney suddenly.

"Maybe I will!" Ivan whispered.

In his mind, he secretly decided that he would never choose the Divination class. That woman would scare him to death in a heartbeat.

From the first day he met her, he never heard a happy prophecy from her.

"You're just like Potter's son; you've never had good clairvoyant energy. The halo on your head is too small," Professor Trelawney said. "But you are both ideal prophetic objects. The signs are clearer in both of you than in others."

She seemed to be praising him, but Ivan wasn't sure if he should be happy.

It is only with prophecies of death that the omens of fate are clear. It is a truly unfortunate trait.

"Professor, I have urgent things to do. I must go!" Ivan turned and left, but a loud, husky voice spoke behind him.

Professor Trelawney suddenly said, "It will happen soon!"

"I'm sorry, Professor! What did you say?", Ivan turned around quickly and saw Professor Trelawney as if she had turned into someone else. She leaned against the wall, her body stiffened, her eyes were unfocused and her mouth hung.

Ivan's heart skipped a beat, was he about to hear a prophecy? A real prophecy?!
