Before Harry found it, Ivan was in Sirius' office discussing the matter of the centaurs and the object they had.
After talking to Florence that night, he was assured that it was the key to the Gryffindor Treasure. The only thing he didn't expect was that it would be split.
Anyway, Ivan needed to get that thing.
In his plan, this was the key to improving his magical power.
The lack of magic had become the biggest limitation to Ivan's strength.
If his magic could not be improved, even if he accumulated more knowledge, even if he knew powerful magic spells, it was just talk, with no practical value.
Ivan could not wait for his magic to grow with age, like any other wizard. He did not have time.
Voldemort was likely to return at any moment. He had to be prepared.
He saved Sirius and the future had changed. He could no longer rely on Voldemort being defeated and killed by using the wrong wand. He had to take a more practical approach.
Dumbledore had his plan, and Ivan had his own ideas as well. In this case, the Gryffindor magical item that would enhance his magic was particularly important, not to mention that it was one of the keys to a secret treasure.
Sirius had promised to help Ivan win the approval of the centaur colony.
They were discussing this matter; and Sirius told Ivan how he had been recognized by the centaur colony.
"You know, during our student days, I worked with James, Remus and Peter to make the Marauder's Map." Sirius said proudly, "That map not only shows the names of everyone at Hogwarts, but it also has the simple thoughts of the four of us. Only those who meet our requirements can use it. When someone like Snape touches it, it humiliates them."
"It's really amazing. I have studied that map. It involves a deep and very complicated knowledge of magic." Ivan said in awe, "Especially when the names are shown on the map, this magic has gone far beyond the general sense of magic."
"About that magic, I found a book in the Restricted Section, the one upstairs...", Sirius said.
"I know, the Magic of Names." Ivan pulled a magic book out of his backpack, laughed and said, "I borrowed it a few days ago. I saw the research notes. These notes gave me a lot of inspiration."
When he studied the dark magic of summoning a demon in 'Secrets of the Darkest Art', it was about magical knowledge related to names, and as a result he found this magic book.
According to the book, the key to summoning a demon is to know its real name. Only by knowing the real name can the caster enslave the summoned demon. Otherwise, the one doing the summoning would be killed by it, or controlled by the demon and made its slave.
Ivan was very skeptical of this magic. He did not believe in the existence of demons.
He had never seen any record of this ancient black magic anywhere other than as recorded in 'Secrets of the Darkest Art'.
I didn't know what I was going to invoke with this black magic!
However, based on this, it was a good opportunity to study the magic of names.
As for the magic of summoning the demon, Ivan estimated that he would never use it in his life.
Like making a Horcrux and the previous dark magic that caused soul damage, summoning a demon required a sacrifice. In the summoning method described in 'Secrets of the Darkest Arts', the caster must kill a person with a special spell when summoning.
That man's soul is a sacrifice. Different souls can summon different degrees of demons, in short, the more evil the caster's methods, the more pain the sacrifice suffers when he dies, the more powerful the demons summoned.
This evil magic sounded chilling.
Sirius took the magic book from Ivan and smiled bitterly. "I knew there was nothing to hide from you!"
To Ivan's omniscience, he had gone from shock to numbness.
Looking at the thin boy in front of him, Sirius shook his head helplessly.
When he was on the run, he had once managed to escape pursuit by the Ministry of Magic.
But only seconds after meeting Ivan on that Muggle street, he recognized him, which was simply too unbelievable.
Perhaps that was what made Ivan different.
Sirius remembered his conversation with Dumbledore earlier, and looked Ivan over from head to toe again. If no incident occurred, he believed Ivan would become a great wizard like Dumbledore.
"I've studied this book and your notes carefully, and it's clear that the names are magical, but it's very difficult to mark the names of everyone at Hogwarts on a piece of parchment." Ivan frowned. "Not to mention that the four of you have merged your simple thoughts into the Marauder's Map. To do this, magic theory is secondary and more importantly very, very powerful magic."
"Your analysis is absolutely correct. If it were in class, I would give Gryffindor 50 points." Sirius put the magic book aside, smiled and said, "You guessed it. None of the four of us could do it by our own magic."
"I heard Professor Lupin mention that you got help from the object collected by the centaur colony, which had powerful magic." Ivan said, "What exactly is it?"
"Unfortunately, I don't know!" Sirius shook his head. "We didn't see the shape of that thing. I remember it was one night when, under the starlight, it reflected a soft light and had very strong magical power."
"Light?!" Ivan was surprised.
"Yes, the magic of those beams of light was incredible." Sirius recalled, "The four of us, following the centaurs, went up in turns and tried to get the object, but no one succeeded. Finally, before we left, James suggested completing the Marauder's Map there. We had been studying it for a long time, and couldn't find a source of magic that was powerful enough. The parchment used to make the map was James' spell class assignment, and luckily he had it at the time."
Listening to Sirius' description, Ivan could imagine the whole process of making the Marauder's Map.
Since even Sirius didn't know which key Gryffindor left behind, then Ivan could only see it with his own eyes.
The crucial question was, how could he get the centaurs' approval?
