Chapter 341: The Temple of the Moon and the Centaur Ghost

Due to the proximity of the temple to the water current, the nearby air was very humid.

Besides Magorian, all the other centaurs remained in front of the lake. They did not follow the stone platform into the water. Without permission, they could not approach the Temple at will....

Sirius whispered something to Harry, Ron and Hermione, but Ivan didn't hear him.

He was still thinking about Professor Trelawney's prophecy, and the scene around him upset him greatly.

"The Centaurs are accustomed to using the names of planets to name their temples," Sirius said, "There are Centaur tribes and temples for star worship and stargazing all over the world. Although there is little communication between them due to distance, the names of these temples have never been repeated."

"What is this Temple called?" asked Harry.

"They call it the Temple of the Moon!" Sirius pointed to the red moon hanging over the top of their heads. "It's called that because it's suitable for observing the path of the moon. As a primitive Temple, it is very famous among the Centaurs. If you meet any of them anywhere else, they will recognize the name if you talk about it."

"It's not entirely unique. There are two Lunar Temples in the Centaur World." Magorian interrupted, irrepressible anger in his voice. "The traitors who were exiled by the tribes built another Moon Temple elsewhere. It's exactly the same as this one here, but the things they offer in it are totally different."

"So, is it the same black Temple as here?" asked Ivan.

"Yes, those traitors tainted the sacred place, and the Moon Temple they built is full of evil and taboos." Magorian paved the ground with his front hooves.

Ivan was a little relieved to hear what he said.

If there was no evil and taboo in this dark Temple, it was not the place mentioned in Professor Trelawney's prophecy.

He stopped thinking about it. Anyway, no matter what the situation was, he had to go in alone.

Through the narrow, dark entrance, Ivan followed Magorian and Sirius into the Temple. Harry, Ron and Hermione were right behind him, and they all looked around curiously.

In the torchlight, Ivan saw the magnificent murals carved into the walls.

These murals were a continuation of the carvings on the outside walls, most of which were related to the centaurs in the stargazing aspect.

There were also many star trajectories.

Henceforth, the complex pattern of star constellations occupied the entire space, even on the ceiling and on the marble panel on the floor. It was so complex, that following it was really difficult.

Only real astrologers could understand the value of these complex patterns. Almost the trajectories of all the planets had been recorded here for thousands of years. Many of them were important star charts that human magicians had never noticed or missed.

Ivan could not understand this. The three people next to him, Harry, Ron and Hermione, were even more lost, but this didn't stop any of them from showing their amazement.

The passage went straight on. Around the first bend, something milky came out of the wall and met Ivan. It was a ghost, not one of the ordinary wizard ghosts of the castle, but a ghost of an ancestor of the Centaurs.

He dressed differently from the current Centaurs. He was tall, very tall, and wore an uncommonly scarred leather suit. He was like a soldier who had just returned from the battlefield.

Ivan watched the centaur ghost carefully. It looked like the strongest centaur he had ever seen, almost as big as the Magorian, which was simply unbelievable.

To put it bluntly, it was a mixture of a centaur and a monster.

When Ivan looked at it, the centaur ghost looked back at him.

His eyes were full of suspicion, frowning and it looked like he had said something. His tone was very strange, certainly not English, and everyone did not understand what he was talking about.

Magorian stepped forward and spoke to him.

"It is a language specific to the Centaurs. It's very old and complex, and now it's rarely used." Sirius explained, "But it was very popular in the Middle Ages."

"That leather outfit looks medieval." Hermione said, "He must have lived here for nearly a thousand years as Nick nearly decapitated."

"Nick knows all the ghosts, but he never told us about centaur ghosts." Harry looked at him curiously, lowered his voice and said, "Remember the Halloween party last year? All the ghosts of Britain were there, but there was no such thing."

"I don't think they invited him because they couldn't communicate." Ron wrinkled his nose and whispered, "Nick certainly can't speak the Centaur language, can he?"

"Centaurs generally don't associate with humans, even if they become ghosts." Sirius said, "This is the most sacred temple of the Centaurs. Only the wisest elders and bravest warriors of the tribe may enter."

"So there are many centaur ghosts here?" asked Ivan.

"Actually, not that many." When Magorian finished talking to the centaur ghost, he listened again to Ivan's question and answered briefly, "Because of the traitors, we have suffered great losses. The souls of many ancestors disappeared forever, and only the most powerful centaurs remain. The one who was here is Okegiga, which means Sublime Mountain in the Centaur language. He is the greatest warrior in the history of our tribe."

"The greatest warrior, what did he do?" Ron asked hesitantly, "Had he killed many Acromantulas?"

"He had killed an adult fire dragon and many other monsters beyond your imagination." Magorian said sharply, apparently unhappy with Ron's offense. "Human, never underestimate the centaurs. We have strength and civilization that is no weaker than yours."

The fire dragon is the most powerful and fierce magical creature in existence. Everyone had seen the one under the floor of Gringotts and was deeply impressed by its strength.

It was hard to imagine that a centaur could kill a fire dragon on his own. Even a powerful wizard could hardly do this.

The centaur ghost Okegiga turned and walked away, and everyone looked at him in amazement.

"Let's go. Let's not let the elder wait too long." Magorian turned and set off again.

They continued moving forward and entered an ascending circular passageway. On the outer side of the corridor were round rooms of different sizes, filled with strange things, some of which were ritual utensils, but others didn't look so nice.

In the dim torchlight, through the narrow gaps in the stone doors, Ivan saw that there were many statues in the dark rooms.

The statues were varied, too far away to be seen clearly, but the appearance of the statues by the door was enough to shock everyone.

Ivan swallowed and stopped in the same spot, and was startled.

Following his gaze, Ron looked curiously around the room. The next second, he made a hoarse, horrified scream.
