In the dark temple, Okegiga continued with Ivan.
The loud, pounding sound of the centaur's hooves on the floor intermingled with his agonized voice as he said, "In the middle of the empty room, I found a small wooden statue wrapped in withered plants on a square stone pedestal." Okegiga continued, "I cleaned the plants and took the statue to the tribe as proof of my foolish adventure, but I didn't expect it to be the beginning of the disaster. It was all my fault..."
"The statue?" Ivan asked quietly.
"Yes, it was the image of the evil god that was carved into it." Okegiga vigorously waved the torch in his hand. "It was a cursed magical object. From that day on, as soon as night fell, we could hear a strange voice whispering to us in the colony, disconcerting from the man who claimed to be the God of the forest. In the middle of the night, he promised us great power, the secret of immortality and the ambition to conquer the forest...".
Ivan was silent. He sounded exactly like the guy he met in Aragog's lair.
They depended on the same things to make others obey them. Perhaps this was what the evil spirits had in common.
But they had different strengths and abilities, and each had their own characteristics.
Also, perhaps this was because Slytherin had split the self-proclaimed God of Death before, but he didn't seem to be as powerful as the evil god the centaurs encountered.
Of course, it could also be due to the fact that it was created by Herpo the Mad through dark magic, while the evil god they were now facing was a powerful creature discovered by the ancient sorcerers in the endless void.
"At first, the centaurs did not believe in that voice. Since ancient times, we have only believed in the power of the stars and the signs of the planets." Okegiga said resentfully. "After arguing, the old man decided to destroy the wooden statue I had brought. They thought it was an evil object of black magic created by a human magician, but we failed in every way."
The wooden statue was the ancient sorcerers' seal on the evil spirit. If it could be so easily destroyed, they would not have left it there.
"After countless failures, we decided to seek the help of the Moon Temple, and the Astronomers came out to take the statue away." Okegiga said, "We all thought they had successfully destroyed the wooden statue of the evil god. The voice had been gone for a long time."
Okegiga had explained earlier that the astronomers of the centaur colony were very sacred and of high rank. Because of the power of the stars, there were very few centaurs who could use magic.
They were proficient in healing and star magic, somewhat similar to the existence of witch doctors.
Only the most talented foals were qualified to become stargazers.
After discovering the talented foals, they were taught individually in the Temple of the Moon.
This was the ancient tradition of the Centaurs, but Ivan did not know when he would die.
In the modern world with which Ivan was familiar, there was no faction of astronomers in the centaur colony of the Forbidden Forest. All the centaurs could read the warnings given by the movements of the planets.
But again, they could neither sense magic nor use it.
"Ordinary centaurs cannot enter the Temple of the Moon without permission. We don't know what happened here. We thought the astrologers had succeeded. But the reality is that they were all corrupted by the evil god." Okegiga continued, her voice gradually calming down. "They secretly modified the interior of the sacred Moon Temple into what you now see. When this incident was discovered, it caused much commotion, and the tribe was divided as a result. The supporters of the evil god and the astronomers took the lead, and several elders and opponents like myself were banished."
He paused and patted the door engraved with the shape of the moon, touched the shutter, and the black door slowly rose upward, revealing an escalator behind.
"From then on, the fallen centaurs began to disperse, hunting every creature they could see and destroying the balance of the forest." Okegiga took Ivan in, and the sound of flowing water echoed from below, and they began to rise. Turning his head, Okegiga continued, "The astronomers were getting worse and worse, and the great evil is closing in on us. We cannot wait any longer. We have to act. As I said before, it all started because of my stupidity. I have to put an end to this farce myself..."
He jerked his right hand back with great force and threw his torch.
Okegiga drew the long spear behind him, his hands clenched with all his strength, his muscles tense, his eyes wide open, waiting for the next battle.
Ivan also took a deep breath, drew his wand, looked at the rapidly moving stone wall and mobilized all his magic.
Their challenge had reached its most critical point, where success or failure is at stake.
Waiting for them at the top of the temple would be the evil god that was summoned, the centaurs who believed in him, a great number of unspeakable monsters, and....
Roar!!!!
When Ivan and Okegiga reached the top of the Temple, the roar of a dragon reached them, vibrating their eardrums with scorching heat, for the sky was filled with golden flames.
Ivan did not hesitate and hastened to wave his wand. The next second, a magical shield appeared before them, blocking the dragon's flames. The energy shield built by pure colorless magic was immediately baked bright red.
"To victory; CAAARGAAA!" Okegiga let out a loud shout.
As the centaur's hooves swung, he dashed out in front of the gushing flames and raised his long spear like a war god.
In front of them was the black dragon they found in front of the Temple.
It lay on the ground, its fearsome yellow eyes mingled with blood, staring at Ivan and Okegiga.
Its left wing had apparently been treated, but the scar left on it was shocking and could no longer be used for flight.
The dragon's eyes were filled with hatred. After spitting fire, it rushed forward with its huge fanged mouth, roaring thunderously.
The intolerable heat was getting stronger and stronger, and it was shaking the whole place.
After gliding forward and charging for a while, Okegiga made a sudden turn, facing the approaching dragon, all four legs working hard at the same time, and flew straight up into the air.
Bang, boom, boom, boom, boom!
Ivan didn't care to pay attention to anything else; they were now right on top of the dragon.
He waved his wand as hard as he could and mobilized all his magic. A red curse as thick as an adult's thigh came from the tip of his wand.
Due to the accumulation of too much magic, Ivan could even hear the faint hiss of the magical collision, like red lightning, rushing down.
It was a stun spell! Ivan didn't expect to be able to take down a fire dragon with such a powerful magical defense like that, but it was enough to make him dizzy.
