Chapter-2

The office space quieted down. The silence was broken by the sound of tapping fingers on the table after some time.

Kai inquired, "Is there any medication that can be taken, or a way to stop the process?"

"We don't have any at the moment, but for emergency measures, calm down and stop thinking about anything stressful. Spend at least 30 minutes every day meditating," After taking a look at the documents he brought, Ray replies.

Linda, who was slumped, picked up the papers and read them once more. She caught Kai's attention as she turned the papers back and forth.

She pleaded with her teary eyes, "Chairman if my family were to move to Bram, are they also required to install chips to their necks?"

Kai thought as he squeezed his nose's bridge. After some time, he turned to face Dr. Ray and said." What do you require?"

Dr. Ray tapped the papers he brought. "I need a dungeon under the laboratory in Bram City and all the equipment listed here must be installed there. Heavy reinforcement is required for the cells."

"Ok."

After promising Ray, Kai turned to Linda and said,

"Linda contact the mayor of Bram town and the construction branch manager about renovating the laboratory.

Additionally, transport the equipment directly to the Bram laboratory that Dr. Ray desires. Come to the lab after that; I have something to show you there. ".

Kai told Linda to leave the room and said, "Let's go Ray.".

Dr. Ray rose from the couch and stretched his four limbs before slowly advancing.

Kai glanced at Dr. Ray as they moved down the hallway at the Bernett Group's headquarters' basement. Kai popped the question out of the blue,

"So why are we still fine and don't show any kind of symptoms?"

"Perhaps we caught the disease later than they did or our mental fortitude is greater than theirs. What we already knew about SGV is merely the tip of the iceberg.

We don't have time to wait, so I need more time and personnel." Dr. Ray remarked, pointing out.

Their steps halted as they approached the lab cells where Cravers were imprisoned. Despite the air ventilation system being in place, the smell of blood and bodily fluids is pervasive.

Kai felt uneasy due to the combination of the brightly lit laboratory hallway and the low growling, raving, and friction noises made by metal chains. Guards with high-caliber shotgun patrol the hallway, and the cells' security was well-equipped.

Kai inhaled deeply and turned to face one of the Cravers behind the prison bar. The Craver's arms were leaned and longer than those of regular people, and he had sharp claws. His mouth was drooling saliva, and his eyes were blood red.

Steel chains were fastened to his neck as well as his four limbs.

"After two days, he stopped changing, so we locked him up, but as time went on, his mental state deteriorated,"

Ray spoke while he was staring at the craver.

Kai, who was attempting to keep his emotions in check, looked at him and asked, "Your point is?".

"The new energy found in the Carver's body, but the body was evolving at a rate faster than the GE can keep up with."

Ray answered the question with a silly smile, "I named it genesis energy (GE), quite cool right?"

Kai occasionally feels the urge to punch his friend in the silly face, but never with such a strong urge as now. He restrained his thoughts of violence and turned to face the Craver.

"So?" Kai.

"To determine whether normal humans and animals can also produce this energy, it is necessary to understand how it will affect our bodies, minds, and the significance of this energy.

Additionally, one day after they locked up here, their GE's output at least halved. As a result, I looked at the raw meat we gave them and found GE there as well. But why has the energy production halved?

If we found GE 10 out of 10 from people, Hahaha," Dr. Ray continued babbling while flashing a silly smile.

He looked at Kai and said, "Kai, do you think we humans can evolve into a stronger version?".

Kai, who was desperately trying to control his itchy right hand, momentarily blinked and shouted, "What?"

The unusual expression on his friend's face amused Ray.

"This is only currently a possibility. Why not humans and other animals as well, if GE can make Craver stronger?

Our bodies were probably slowly changing even at this time." Ray said, walking back and forth in front of the cell like a young child who just received his favorite toys.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Ray leaped to his feet and peered into the cell.

"Stupid Craver, you destroyed my priceless ideas."He yelled at the Craver, who was hitting the prison bar with his head.

Kai studied his friend's red face, who was acting pretentiously to cover up his shame and had a hard time controlling the muscle in his cheeks.

As a result of the noises, the other cells did likewise.

From his teenage years until the present, Kai has always loved the adventure and survival genre, regardless of books, games, or movies. His life is always set to the easy setting, so learning about SGV gave him a thrill.

While maintaining his customary stern expression, his eyes were sparkling with stars.

He asked while gazing at them as if in a dream, "How strong are they?"

The image of Craver is even more terrifying now, with a low growl from the throat, hostile blood-red eyes, and blood streaming from his forehead like a monster stepped out of a horror film. He could feel the Craver's erratic emotions even while observing from a safe distance.

"They have higher resistance than we do currently, 2 times the average human.

You will receive the information eventually, my guys were conducting research even now." Once he had calmed down, Ray spoke.

The sooner they can get the research results, the better, Kai thought as he leisurely stroked his chin. He doesn't even know how many humans have given in to their cravings at this point. He still desired to experience the new world and all that it would entail in full consciousness.

"I'll give you full control over the science and technology division, and you won't have to ask my permission for anything involving research going forward. Inform the other departmental staff to halt all projects besides SW and SGV.

Within one week, I need a comprehensive set of instructions for taking action in an emergency and specific information regarding the likelihood of humans evolving. You have access to every resource in this division.

Be ready; in ten days, we'll be moving to Bram." he declared.

tuak. tauk. tauk.

Linda, who was walking down the hallway of the lab cells in high heels, stopped abruptly. She was shaking after seeing the Craver and covered her tiny mouth with both of her hands.

Kai, turning to face her, gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder. He then sighed and turned to face Ray. He reflected to himself, "I'm the only one who can console and explain her right now."

"I wanted to show you this, so here it is. If you care about your family, convince them to relocate to Bram and install the chips.

Chips don't take away your freedom; they're just a security precaution for the sake of the people you care about and those close to you.

I have already installed the chips, they serve as a mental break for us. Nobody will have access to the chips.

Since the switch function in the SW is shut off from all external connections, nobody can heckle or order it to explode. It's 100 percent secure." Kai patiently clarified.

Linda sucked down the nonexistent saliva and then looked at the Craver. She questioned, her voice so low that Kai had to pay close attention, "Are we also becoming like him?".

"No, not all of us. Ray!!" who was in his world, was called out by him.

"How much of the population will give in to their craving? ".

Dr. Ray blinked and scanned the area. He asked, pointing at himself, "Are you talking to me?"

"Sigh. "

"How many people will give in to their cravings?"

"Ah. I don't know, but I imagine that at least 2 out of 3 people will give in to their craving. Take him for instance."

He indicated the Craver.

"He has so many contradictory desires, I'm at a loss for words. The seven deadly sins and other negative emotions combine to make Cravers, though.

We were complex beings that carried a lot of emotions, cravings, and desires in our minds or, should I say, souls. Whatever, daily stress buildup, the fear of the unknown, and survival instinct.

The world would come to an end if people ever learned about SGV from governments or the spread of Craver. Like a domino effect, really."

"Ray, one last thing, can they infect other people by biting like zombies in movies?"

"Once more, it was at a percentage that wasn't too big or too small, but 50/50. Our genetic codes were our own.

Foreign infections must bypass or override the host genetic code to dominate the gene of the target person.

Therefore, the victim gene will change if the offender is more powerful than the victim. Like in everyday circumstances, is the infection more powerful or your immune system?".
