Once in a blue moon

There's no doubt the food is mouthwatering, I can't resist this. I have to eat less, I've got to attend Yui's birthday as well but I'm disgustingly hungry, I could eat this grilled chicken before she can even blink.

"The food is absolutely bon appétit," I whisper appreciatively.

"The drink is also luscious," Juri said while taking a sip of her drink.

It couldn't be any better, so this is what a date feels like, sitting next to radiant beauty in an opulence restaurant, it's so intimidating.

All of a sudden her phone chimes.

"Who's it from," I ask politely, as I can see her face falling.

"It's sam, that bastard, he wants to see me, I hadn't texted him lately," she breathes.

I gape at her she seems to be down in the mouth, that prick he ruined her mood, what kinda boyfriend he is who can't even take care of her girlfriend.

Still, it's none of my business but I can't just sit here and do nothing while her face is like a wet weekend. Even if I'm not her boyfriend but I surely can caress her like a friend.

"You know earlier in the shop, I heard the staff chattering softly, they were talking about us Juri," I mutter, trying to change the direction of her mood.

"What did they say?"

"Well nothing much, they were considering us as a couple and the owner for real reached me and said your girlfriend is categorically stunning but she didn't say a word about me."

"My my, someone is jealous of his own girlfriend," she chuckles softly. I don't know why she regard herself as my girlfriend. All that I know is I kinda like that.

"Says someone who can't even handle her own boyfriend." Jeez, what did I say just now?

"How dare you, you have no right to speak to me like that okay," gleam in her eye grew darker.

"Do you pity me ren?" She asked, her voice being low this time.

"Not you but your boyfriend, everything you have told me so far about him, it occurs to me that he's a tremendous ass. Forgive me if I talked a bit acrimonious Juri but I wanna know what's holding you back, if he isn't the prince charming for the fantasies then what good he does to you." The words I said just now thoughtlessly, I assume it will bring consequences for me.

"I can't believe how well you're holding up, considering how much stress you are under," I said offering her my sympathy.

She lowers her head and put the glass on the table, her face looks as pale as a ghost, her cheeks flushed, is she on the verge of crying?

"I don't know, okay. Those words cut so deep ren."

"I know baby but there's no pill that will eradicate this particular emotion unless you share it with someone," my heart-melting words left her gazing at me.

I can tell by the look she seems anxious and uncomfortable.

"Don't you feel aggrieved Juri?" I ask sympathetically.

"I feel pathetic." She squeaked.

"You have no idea ren. What embroils I am in. He exercises control on everything, he just commands whatever he desires and I just agree with him as if I'm his little bitch."

"I know he's just toying with me he doesn't even love me, what he does love the most is implanting lies into me, to break me in every way imaginable and believe me that's not the worst part, in the depth of my heart I believe I deserve this." Her fury turned into a peal of laughter as she looked at me.

"So when you ask me ren, why I'm still with him after his malicious treatment. The answer is I don't know," tears welled up in her eyes.

"Please don't say that, you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life, believe me, you deserve a lot more than that, thinking about how your boyfriend treats you makes my blood boil, it's just unacceptable."

I grabbed her hands and looked deep into her eyes. "You're an absolute beauty Juri, and I will not allow anyone to hurt you, since I know what does it feels like when you do everything you possibly could. And in return, all you have been offered is misery, cruelty brutality." After hearing this declaration, the icy chill drained away from her and was replaced with a sort of tenderness.

People drinking and chattering in the bar.

One of them spoke all of a sudden while looking at me, "Hey dude, isn't he that douce we used to bully."

"Hmm… Who, where." Aki scanned every nook and cranny of the restaurant.

"Right there, Aki, you got pretty dumb eyes man."

He was pensive for a moment. "Yeah, you're right that bastard, what was his name again."

"You're unbelievable. You stole her girlfriend Aki, you don't even remember his name."

"What difference would it make if I do remember?"

"The thing that intrigues my interest is that chick sitting next to him." Aki smiled maliciously.

"Whoever she is, she's smoking hot."

"Why don't we smack his butt like old times, Aki."

"You think we should?"

"Don't you think that too." Both of them smiled and laughed.

"What was his name again."

"Ren." Both of them walks towards me.

Someone suddenly patted my shoulder. "Hey ren, haven't seen you in ages," Aki said with a haughty smile on his face.

I look back startled as I heard a familiar voice from behind. My mood plunges its form to an utmost state of vexation. The look on his face is making me press the panic button. Why on earth he's here. He makes me sick. He's the reason I'm no longer with Emi.

"So what makes you stop by." My eyes filled with animosity.

"I just came by to ask whether my friend is doing good or not," he said surprisingly calm.

"Friend my ass. You stole my girlfriend dude, there's no way in hell we're friends," surprising calm Aki furrowed his eyebrows, he glanced at Juri then turned his gaze towards me.

"You're still mad at me…" He suddenly opened his mouth but half of the sentence remains an enigma since I cut him off.

"Do I look like I can spare a minute, Aki?" He looked at me perplexed as if I'm the same person he used to bully.
