THE PROJECT

Watching the way, he scratches his head as he said, "Oh, and that is for tomorrow, at half two."

Seeing how suddenly she stood up, "Are you out of your mind? How am I going to prepare all of that when I want to attend church in the morning plus I have to do my laundry."

Jessy felt his grip tighten on her arms, "Hello! How can I be out of my mind when you already knew you were getting an order? You are supposed to be prepared."

"Yes, I bought the extra stuff but I wasn't expecting it to be so soon, I have my laundry to complete or I won't have any clothes for Monday and besides that, I have to do my baking for the office?"

Brent knew he had to convince her though matter what. Changing his tone of voice and becoming gentler. "Sweetheart, listen to me this is very important, Mom and Dad are having some people coming over to discuss your homeless home project, and I have to explain to them what sort of structure we plan to build seeing that Chase hasn't finished with the plan, so please help me out here."

With her grape-like eyes open so wide making it looks black like the deep sea, and her palm-size face looks even smaller.

With her mouth open and her hand moving to cover it, she stood there in shock. Brent knew she didn't have any idea he took her words seriously. He could see the surprised expression written all over her face.

Time seems to stop for a few seconds before she responds, "You are kidding me, right? Did you really take what I told you seriously? Are you really going to build a home for the homeless?"

Brent observed how excited she became and her small beautiful palm-size face lit up but her eyes becomes watery.

'Oh dear Lord, why am I so attracted to her? There are so many girls more beautiful than her , for example, that young lady Mom brought home but something about Jessy has stolen my heart.'

Holding her face with both hands seeing the trickle of tears seeps out of her eyes, yet there was a broad smile on her face. Brent knew immediately those tears were tears of joy.

Wiping the tears away he responds with a broad smile on his face, "Sweetheart, I could still remember clearly that day we met one month ago. You told me what was in your heart and you never stop crying. And you are crying again but never mind all of that, have I ever lied to you since we met?"

"Not yet, but men do tend to stretch the truth to make what they are saying sound good."

Ignoring her words although it hurts a little as he recalls what his mom asked him to order, Wiping the tears away he said with a smile, "Oh, sweetheart, I now remember mom also wanted spring roll."

Jessy was so excited hearing him constantly calling her sweetheart, she sat down on his lap and said as she looks up at his handsome face, "Sir, exactly what are you saying?"

"Jessy, weren't you listening to anything I was saying?"

Jessy realized he was a bit angry from the way he raised his voice. "I am sorry I am a bit tired so can you write down the list of items your mom needs seeing that you remember everything now? I might forget. and from what I already observed about your mom, she gets angry very quickly and I definitely would like to avoid any misunderstanding."

Stroking her face he asks gently, "How come you are tired, and where have you been? I thought you went out with friends."

Brent could not help, but smile when he saw the way she twitches her nose and heard the sound of her tongue. "Friends! Where on earth would I get friends from? I am new to this city."

Brent, continue stroking her face with his right-hand thumb, he never took his eyes off her face. 'She seems to be telling the truth and she is right I am the only friend that I know of and thinking about it now, where has she been to become so tired?'
