BRENT BLAMED HIMSELF

Arriving at the apartment, Miss James hurried out of the car and pushed the gate open. Brent on the other hand looks at her go before slipping out the apartment key from his bunch and following behind.

Standing beside her, she knocked on the door and called out to Jessy to open the door. Getting no answer she rang the doorbell a few times, then she hurried towards the back of the apartment calling out to Jessy. Brent could hear the concern in her voice.

He waited until she was at the back and called out a few times before he unlocked the door and rushed to the side of the garage where the few flower pots were, he took one and hurriedly placed it next to the garage, and then he called Miss James saying, "I found the key Miss James, the door is open."

Unaware of what was happening Miss James came in a rush and bolted through the door, Brent heard her scream out saying, "Come in quickly Sir and help me."

Entering through the door Brent saw her lifeless body lying on the floor and her face was white like chalk. Miss James was in tears kneeling beside her.

Brent felt his heart was being shattered into pieces, muttering silently, "Goodness, gracious Lord, what have I done?"

Brent noticed the medicine on the centre table but it was untouched he was heartbroken, and without a second thought Brent took her up and carried her into the room.

He blamed himself for neglecting her in the time of her need. 'She took such care of me and I failed her. She has lost so much weight from Saturday to now feeling how light she was.'

He instructed Miss James, "Change her quickly, and I will take her to the Doctor."

Leaving her in Miss James' charge, he stepped out of the room, he then called his doctor informing him about the situation and to be waiting at the hospital entrance for him.

He was so angry with himself for allowing his emotions to get the better of him, and now because he had ignored her, she was so sick. "How could I not trust her?"

When the voice came at the front door, Brent quickly glanced towards the direction, but his phone rang causing him to turn aside to answer.

Seeing it was the investigator Brent had no choice but to pick up. He was anxious to know who was following him.

While speaking to the investigator he glanced across the road, he wanted to know why the men hadn't reported to him about Jessy's movement since that night.

He switched off his phone after getting some of the information he needed, but he was desperately waiting to hear who sent him the note so he had to wait.

He slipped the phone into his pants pocket when he responded to the two gentlemen who were standing at the entrance.

They seemed to be waiting for an invitation into the apartment, they were neatly dressed in white long-sleeved shirts and black pants, and their shoes were black and shining. Brent wonders which organisation they work in and why they were visiting Jessy.

"Can I help you?" The two persons came through the door, Brent observed that it was the same gentleman from Saturday.

When he asks, "How is Miss Albert doing now?"

Brent responded calmly, "She is unwell, and I am going to take her to be treated."

Sammy said, "My Pastor is here so I will ask him to pray for the child before you take her to visit the doctor.

Hearing the gentleman call her child, Brent felt guilty. When the gentleman said, "It seems that the medication I got her Saturday hasn't worked?"

Brent recalled what he saw "Sir, it seems she didn't touch the medication."

Seeing the Pastor stretched out his hand to shake his hand, Brent extended his hand and shook it out of respect, knowing now he was the man of God and the other was also from the church. "I am Brent Larson."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Brent Larson, Sammy told me Miss Albert was not well Saturday, and he took her to the hospital, did I hear you say you are going to take her to visit a Doctor?"

"Yes, my Secretary is dressing her, when we came we found her on the floor right here, it seems she hasn't taken any of the medication, all the bottles were still sealed."

When the Pastor said, "Don't bother taking her, I will take her home instead and my wife Nellie will take good care of her."
