LYSTRA WAS OVERJOYED

Asking Miss John, "Where are the others, have they eaten already?"

Lystra was happy to report that they had all gone, thinking she would have him to herself, "Sir, they all complain of tiredness so they just took their meals and left."

Brent felt a headache coming on as he was experiencing such fatigue as though it was consuming his entire body together with a slight burning of his eyes.

When he heard Miss John say that he was so relieved, he decided immediately to return home and get an early night's rest, saying to her, "We should do the same."

Brent took up his jacket from the chair-back and exited his office locking the door, then walked towards the elevator.

He observed that Jodhan was still there speaking to one of the security. He was about to leave when he saw me, "Jodhan wait up, I wanted to thank you for making the sacrifice today, by Monday the factory will be open once again."

Jodhan smiled pleasantly "No problem Sir!"

Noticing Lystra lingering around, "You wanted something, Miss John?"

Unexpectedly Lystra was taken aback and put on the spot, "Sir, I was worried, you haven't eaten anything during the day, I wanted to make sure you are okay?"

Brent turned his head away so Miss John wouldn't see how despondent he was, 'If only Miss Albert was in the office I would never feel hungry and so disheartened as though I am alone,' "I am fine thank you."

They both entered the elevator, when Lystra could not hold back and asked, "Sir, these days you seem worried, how about I fix your breakfast and lunch and bring it from Monday?"

Slanting a glance towards her, Brent was a bit disturbed by her words. When Miss Albert was not employed no one thought of bringing me breakfast or lunch. Now that Miss Albert is attending to my meals, Miss John gets the incentive to bring breakfast and lunch.

Brent wanted to laugh, 'Miss Albert never thought twice, and she ensured from her very first day to bring me a meal.

Recalling the coffee Miss John made earlier, Brent said, "Miss John, you surprise me sometimes but please leave that to Miss Albert. Don't you think you have enough on your plate? For example, look at the hour you are leaving work while the others are already home and relaxing. You are already helping me manage the office and running the business. Without you, I would be a nervous wreck, and besides I am paying Miss Albert, so please let her do what she is being paid for, and you are doing an excellent job, I could not ask for a better secretary."

When she did not respond he was wondering what she was thinking, seeing a smile on her face. 'Is that why he gives Sylvia the responsibility to be overseer for the secretaries? He does appreciate me and praise the work I am doing.'

Lystra was overjoyed and was about to say thank you Sir when she observed Boss sigh as though relieved when the elevator "ding!"

Thankful that that discussion was over when he heard the "ding" and the elevator stopped. Brent stepped out and shook the security hand who was standing waiting for him, "Thanks for doing a good job Clyde, I will see you Monday."

Clyde walks alongside Brent as he walks to his car, "Boss! I wanted to ask you something?"

"Yes, Clyde! go right ahead."

Noticing his hesitation before he said, "Boss, I was just curious, did the young lady who makes the snacks leave work?"

Opening his car door he said before sitting down, "She is unwell Clyde, but she will be at work Monday."

Lystra listened not leaving his side, when Clyde sighed and said, "Thank God, I miss the coffee and muffin she brings to me?"

"I miss her coffee too, Clyde."

Hearing Lystra whisper something, "You said something Miss John?"

"No Sir?" Lystra sighed, 'Thank God he didn't hear me, I must be careful, that witch has won the heart of everyone in the building, I must get her out of here.'

"See you Monday Miss John," he waved to her, Brent was about to drive out when this tall beautiful young lady approached his car.

Lystra stood still unable to take her eyes away from the raving beauty.
