Brent felt frustrated as an exhausted feeling overwhelmed him, leaving a loneliness he had never experienced in his life before.
He felt an uneasiness which brought about this strange restlessness.
Brent stood up and walked to the French floor-to-ceiling window and leaned himself.
Memories flooded his mind. "Since that day I saw her going to the elevator crying, I never saw her again and that has already been three weeks. Coming to a fresh realization, " I know I had been avoiding her."
Closing his eyes recalling the many times before finding that letter, how she used to crawl into his arms right before he left for home. She would tell me that I must go, but she cuddled up and fell asleep.
Unaware when the tears seeped out only to feel his face was soaked.
Wiping it away he whispers, 'Oh, honey I miss you so much, the way I was angry, or could it be, I was jealous, I didn't want to quarrel with you, so I asked Miss John not to allow anyone in my office, including you. Now we are not seeing each other, much less talk or fight."
When the knock came Brent wiped his face, thinking it must be Jessy, When Miss John said "Sir, there's a few more letters for you."
With his back towards her, he responds, "Thanks,"
Opening each letter, reading it twice, making sure I was not mistaken, "We are getting five stoves, and six refrigerators when the home is ready to open we have the opportunity to select the utensils for the home.
Rereading the letters and the store name, Brent continued opening the few other letters. Miss John brought in, seeing a few popular supermarket names, each giving a hamper of five hundred dollars, worth of groceries.
He took up another letter only to see it was addressed to Miss Albert, putting it aside wondering what it was doing among the office mail.
Then the thought struck him, 'Who has been asking for these items? Opening another, seeing an invitation from Johanna, reading it
To Mr Brent Larson!
You are invited to attend a dinner and dance at Mrs. Johanna Albert Gibson resident on Friday 12th October 2000.
Resting the invite in my briefcase together with Jessy's letters. 'Wondering what her response and reaction would be, her x and my x, wow what a blast that will be! But she doesn't know about Johanna and me, I will have the advantage, I could even know if she is seeing Mark again?"
How time flies, five months have already gone by since Johanna got married and just now will make Jessy and I three months. Why am I jealous of her? Dear God, she is my wife, me and my foolishness is causing her to hide away from me. One month and almost a week she hasn't spoken to me.'
Hearing the knock, Brent gathered all the letters together, and then said "Come in."
Thinking maybe it was Jessy Miss John said, "Sir, Miss Albert now reach." Without raising his head, he said, "Thank you, and Miss John, can you inform her that I need to see her next ten minutes in the board room."
Lystra was slightly stunned, wondering, 'Where were the angry Boss? How is it he is calm now, as if he had spoken to someone and their words had soothed his heart? Why is it that after so long my plan is about to collapse?
Taking a deep breath before answering, "Yes Sir," Lystra pulls the door behind her gritting her teeth. "I had him to myself for almost six weeks so where did I miscalculate?"
Bending his head when the door closed Brent felt the heaviness in his heart released only thinking about seeing her. 'She is finally here, and I can speak with her, I just have to be calm and control my anger.'
Whispering a silent word of prayer, "Heavenly Father, I know I was foolish to ignore her for so long, but please give her a forgiving heart, I know I keep saying I love her but that day she was crying going to the elevator, I knew something was wrong, yet I never went to her. Even though circumstances seem to keep us apart I never had the opportunity to speak to her about the car incident and the apartment invasion. I am so sorry."
Turning his head when he heard the words as clear as day," Telling me sorry won't mend the misunderstanding between you two."
Brent thought that whoever the person was had the guts to say such words. But the room was empty and he realized his mind was playing tricks with him.
