Irritated by her own words, Florence said in a stern tone, "Junior, Miss Albert said you married her is that true?"
Muttering to herself she thinks aloud, "Thinking about it now why was she laughing and crying? Son, she also told me your car was in her garage. Being fooled by her words I went and checked."
Florence heard him laugh, "Mom, I can't believe that girl fool you."
"You are so right how could I be so foolish to listen to an intoxicated woman, I should have known better than to believe anything she said."
Brent notices when she shakes her head as though she wants to shake off what she is thinking.
"I didn't expect her to be so intoxicated, if I hadn't run fast to assist her when she stood up she would have fallen and damaged herself.
"Junior you should have heard how she and your dad were conversing, although I saw it with my own eyes I still can't believe they drank peardrax and they were so drunk, that was truly impossible;
"So I decided to do the same and drink from the bottle but when I drank one it was normal. Now tell me how is that possible when those two can't even stand up?"
Brent recalls the way she was laughing when she entered through the door, saying, "I wish I could drink a bottle of peardrax and get drunk for one night just to wash away all the cares of the world."
Brent could not believe what he had also seen and had never seen his Mom so confused, yet he wanted to observe her reaction when she spoke of Jessy. "Mom, was she drunk?"
With confusion written all over her face, she said, "I still can't believe it but yes, she could barely walk, I had to help her to the couch then we left. Junior your Father was knocked out the moment I started to drive. He keeps saying you were at Miss Albert's home, I was glad when I saw you were home, those two were out of their mind."
Taunting his mom he asks, "Peardrax you say? Mom, are you saying this?" Hearing him laugh. frustrate Florence.
With a smile, she says, "Please don't remind me, everyone will think; I am losing my mind, but I was there and I know what I see."
Concealing his laughing he asks, "Mom are you for real, you are saying they drink peardrax and get drunk?"
Having no choice Florence shouted at him, "Will you shut your mouth, I drink two in fact, hearing her saying you two were married my heart almost stopped beating."
"Mom so if it were true, what would you do?" Brent's eyes never left his mom's face, wanting to see her reaction.
"I don't know Junior and I don't want to think about if that happens.."
He knew her words speak for themselves, but she still didn't like Jessy "Mom, working with Miss Albert only makes me realise she is a very nice person."
He felt brokenhearted knowing how desperate he wanted his Mom to accept the love of his life.
With her head leaning on the chair, "I know, seeing the way your father and she converse last night, and how happy he was softened my heart towards her. I know if the marriage were real he would be the happiest father in the world.
"I don't know what it is about this young lady but from the first day they met, there was a connection and likeness for her that I cannot put finger to it.
"And you know when he hears that someone is September born he gets excited and taken to them. "
"What are you saying Mom, and what does that have to do with Miss Albert?"
Florence looked at Junior shocked, realizing he was unaware of Miss Albert's birthday, "Junior, that young lady's birthday was in September, just like ours, thinking about it now, it was hilarious. Your dad and that young lady were both speaking opposite and were laughing, if they remember the foolishness they were laughing about today, they will wet themselves down."
Brent's mind went back to last month, but nothing came to mind
Seeing tears in her eyes he heard her muttering softly, "They were happy and that's what was important, she said that she would send you home today, now tell me how that could be possible if she had no idea where you were."
Looking at him, wanting to get an answer, "Junior!"
