I was in bed but couldn’t sleep. It’s been hours since we got home from shopping, but I couldn’t bring myself to sleep. Adrian’s kindness lingered in my head. I was about to close my eyes when I heard knocks on the door. 


I got up and opened it. I was surprised when I saw Adrian. His face showed worry. “What happened?” 


“I’m sorry, Lily. Can you pack your things now? We will leave in 2 hours.” 


“Why? What’s wrong? What happened?” I’m confused. 


“My father is in the hospital. My mother just called me. She said my father has to undergo surgery. We need to go home now.” 


“Okay, I’ll pack my things now.” 


“Tell also to Sonia that she’s coming with us,” he said and left. 


I took out my bag and packed all my things. After a few minutes, I heard knocks on my door. It was Emily. She was holding the things that we bought at the mall. 


“Thank you, Emily. I almost forgot about these,” I smiled. “I will miss you. I hope to come back soon.”
