"G-good morning." She croaked out, reminding them that she was real.
"Oh baby…" Natasha sniffed, nearly sobbing on the spot as she began to walk towards her bestfriend, arms spread for a hug. "It's two in the afternoon." She added, overwhelmed by emotions.
"I'm so glad you're awake— OW!' She cried out when Avatar shoved her aside, rushing to Mahi.
Before anyone could move, he had wrapped his arms around her.
Mahi stiffened in surprise, her arms laying limp on her side. He was hunched over, hugging her as if she was the only thing that mattered in the world. Her ear was pressed to his chest and she could hear his erratic heartbeat. She felt his arms quiver and tighten around her, refusing to let her go.
Her eyes softened. He was scared of losing her, just as much as she was scared of losing him.
"Avatar…" Her voice muffled by his bear hug.
"But I'm thirsty." She softly coaxed him until he finally relented.
Avatar moved to sit by her bedside while shifting his arms to loosely wrap it around Mahi's waist, giving her space to breath. He then tilted his head to look at his obnoxious sibling.
"You heard her. She wants water." He instructed his wealthy sibling as if he was one of his maid.
Karthik lazily turned to Natasha "You heard him. Go get your best friend some water."
Her jaw dropped at his words. "No, stupid, he was talking to you! My baby needs her best friend and her husband here! You can leave!" She refused to walk out, not until she got a proper explanation. Neither of the men in the room wanted to tell her what happened to her best friend for her to sustain such horrible wounds.
Karthik rolled his eyes, staring down at her who was half a head shorter than him "I'm your senior, Regardless if he told me to fetch it or not, you still have to go." He was a proud senior bullying his junior.
Natasha glared at him, refusing to back down. She remained stubbornly rooted to her spot. "Then, you're accepting that you are a old hag."
"You..."
Gyan sighed. He decided to be the bigger person here. It was time to put an end to their childish games. Did they not realize the boss's wife just woke up?
"I'll get it." He walked out to fetch the damn cup of water that started the entire argument.
He came back in less than a few seconds and handed the cup of water to Avatar. "The water dispenser was literally outside of the door." Gyan resisted the urge to roll his eyes. With the way they complained, one would think it was on the other side of the world.
Avatar took the water and gently handed it to the precious woman in his arms. "Be careful, it might be too hot— "
She ignored him and snatched the cup off his hand, finishing it all in one gulp.
Avatar took the cup back and handed it to his secretary for him to refill. Gyan frowned at his new job as a water boy, but nonetheless, went to fetch the water.
"Does it hurt anywhere?" Avatar asked, brushing away her messy fringe to reveal the thick white bandage on her forehead. Seeing it, his lips tilted into a frown and he left a sweet kiss on her wrapped forehead.
No." Mahi curtly answered, pushing him away and casting her eyes downwards. She remembered his expression when he saw the bloodshed. Sitting here, she was waiting for him to tell her he didn't want a woman as crazy and uncontrollable like her.
Avatar saw her lower her gaze and sighed. His arms felt empty without her in it. She had reverted back to distancing herself. He knew it was also his fault.
"Your family give you tough training. But what surprise me, you didn't flinch even at the sight of blood and kill one after another. Awesome." Keeping his voice gentle and his eyes adoringly warm for her.
Karthik eyed his brother. He didn't think the man was even capable of such fondness! Who would've known he was a pampering lover?! He looked at his brother incredulously. H-Hey buddy, I don't think we should provoke this crazy woman who killed 29 men in the span of one night!
Karthik is not complaining, he is just to much surprised. His delicate friend turn into a monster, thrilling, no!
She raised her head to look at him, before eyeing the other and Gyan who stood by the door with the cup of water.
She know, as Malhotra's daughter they give her comrade training. But killing and didn't flinch at the sight of blood is completely different from traning.
Sighing, she gestured her hand to the couch in the expansive hospital room suitable for royalties. "Sit down, it's a long story." She muttered.
Avatar adjusted her hospital bed so she can comfortably sit, before making himself comfortable beside her. He hovered over like an overprotective husband and she didn't know how to react to it.
Karthik was the first to eagerly sit down, his ears excited to listen to this crazy lady. He was now incredibly wary of her due to her abilities. What he heard from his brother, most of her kills were clean shots that resulted in instant deaths!
This type of person was suitable for the underworld. He doesn't know much about her aside from what his brother had told him, and his brother has made sure early on that no one will know about what happened that day.
"When I was 5, a horrible kidnapping occurred in Delhi City by underworld King. The kidnapped victims were all kids from the richest and most influential families in Delhi City. They included Me and Dhurva...."
