Chapter Two

Angelica was still sitting in the same spot she left her at, but a man was now sitting next to her holding a gun on the table.

From one glance, Nikita could tell that Angelica was struggling not to pass out from stress.

Without moving too much, Nikita's posture became cautious and she inched her hand toward the gun resting in her bag.

The tension in the room grew by the millisecond as no one spoke.

Then finally, "Look at you getting all serious as always. How have you been little niece."

The man sitting next to Angelica spoke in a thick South African accent as he removed the ski mask hiding his face.

Removing the mask revealed the defined cheek bones, high thick black eyebrows and dark colored skin that coincided with Nikita's maternal family.

Angelica's blue eyes shook as she stared at Nikita. Niece? What was this girl involved in?

"Uncle...Lethabo..." Nikita slowly spoke the words as she digested the situation. Her posture relaxed, it wasn't likely that this was going to be a fight to the death.

She put on a casual smile and greeted him like there weren't twenty masked men with guns staring at her.

"It's been a while, how are the kids?"

"Doing fine, your cousin Samuel misses you a lot, four years later and he still asks how you are doing.", Lethabo shook his head in exasperation.

Nikita laughed, "Samuel eh? I haven't gotten a chance to beat him up yet after he chewed up my make up brushes."

Despite the seemingly friendly conversation  no one in the room except Nikita and Lethabo were relaxed.

"It's ok Angelica my Uncle is a pretty stand up guy that I've known the majority of my life, he wouldn't be irrational enough to harm anyone. In fact my mother told me that he was like a teddy bear when growing up. Always there for her when she needed him to be."

Nikita took a step forward leading to multiple guns cocking. Her Uncle didn't say anything so she continued.

Sitting across from the large man and Angelica, Nikita let out a sweet smile.

"Isn't that right uncle?"

Lethabo let out a hearty laugh, "Still just as manipulative as your bitch father I see. First bringing up familial connections, then children, then placing me in the standing of a good person, and finally using your mother as leverage. You even left it on a statement that would make me say yes, which would led to me agreeing to everything you said before hand."

With slanted eyes, Lethabo picked up the gun and pointed it at Nikita's head, leading to Angelica shaking and tearing up.

"Unfortunately, I've worked beside your father for a while. The Nolkov's snake like tongue doesn't work on me. Now Nikita..."

The gun clicked, "Are you still confident."

"Please.... Please don't kill her...She a very good kid. And I- I have a child at home so please sir let us go." Angelica gasped out through tears. Her entire face had turned red from crying.

Nikita's lips thinned, 'I'm so sorry for accidentally getting you involved Angelica.'

"Uncle you are scaring my boss, how about you let her go and we have a calm discussion about why you are here. I'm sure you didn't dig me out just to kill me. I know you hate my existence, but I am still your niece."

Using his other hand, Lethabo petted the head of Angelica. He ignored Nikita completely.

"Poor little lamb, here you are defending the girl who destroyed your life without even knowing it." Lethabo leaned down to whisper in Angelica's ear. "Isn't it weird to you that with a decade of tax invasion, the police out of no where had an entire case of evidence against your husband just after you confided in your employee that he was beating you and your kid."

Angelica's pupils shrunk as she stared at Nikita and Lethabo leaned away from her.

"You see the person you hired loves to play god with common folk. She can't help it after all she was raised a princess. How could she just sit and tell her friend that she should leave the relationship. No... as a god she knows what's best for you even if you don't want it."

A gun clicked under the table, causing Lathabo's eyes to slide back toward Nikita.

Every gun in the room pointed at her head.

She greeted him with a humorless smile, "Say what you need to say, but hands off please."

"Calm down niece if everyone acts right everyone can get out, ok?" Lethabo's eyes turned into a glare.

He removed his hand cautiously from Angelica's head.

"You haven't changed much uncle, always looking down on women and always trying to prove your intelligence. Let me give you some advice, you will have to let one of those goals go in order to achieve the other."

Lethabo lowered his gun, placing it on the table and motioned for his men to do the same.

"Fine we have already established we hate each other. Let's have a civil conversation now."

"Men take this woman out and let her head home. Unlike Nikita I won't take another parent from that unfortunate child as long as she is smart and knows to keep her mouth shut."

A man roughly grabbed Angelica and threw her toward the door. She stumbled a bit and looked behind her at the girl whose image in her eyes had completely changed in minutes.

Nikita's face was stone cold without showing an inch of emotion. No fear, no worry, nothing at all. It seemed almost like a switch had turned off inside of her.

She looked scary.

Angelica's heart became complicated. She didn't know what Nikita was thinking, but didn't wanna to leave her with that kind of expression.

"Run along little lamb before I change my mind."

A powerful voice resounded in her ear, causing Angelica to want to flee as soon as possible. 'Nikita... I don't blame you...'

Could she leave without saying it? However, as if listening to her thoughts the cold face seemed to melt as two warm brown eyes looked at her.

"I already know, please leave."

Angelica stared at the eyes for a moment before exiting to building. 'Please be safe Nikita.'
