America Is Progressing

Mabel didn't bother to ask Megan what happened? Normally it wasn't in her place to know but she did pick something, it was Jace on the phone. Except it was another Jace, someone she didn't know.

They got into Megan's car and headed to her mom's fashion store.

" What a nice boutique your mom's got. I can't believe your mom owns a shop this beautiful but you wear junk", Megan said as they walked in and Mabel frowned. " Well thank you Megan but I love the junk I wear, it's simple and comfortable", Mabel said as a fact before adjusting her glasses properly.

Megan didn't bring up the topic anymore as they started shopping. She watched Megan try out so many dresses and whoa Megan got a good taste in clothing and a nice curvy shape too. Everything looked great on her so far.

She preferred the junk she wore so she didn't bother liking anything Megan chose for her. Those junk, like Megan said, were hers. It was a camouflage because it distinguished her from everyone and made her easily unnoticed. I mean who would want to pay attention to the lady in saggy jeans and sweat shirt when you could have a clear view of the one in v-neck.

Megan soon got tired of trying out dresses and when she thought that they were going to the counter to pay, Megan abruptly stopped her.

" Where do you think you're going? We haven't picked some clothings for you, you didn't like what I picked earlier, fine, but we are taking them anyways", Megan said and Mabel stood shocked. She thought Megan had totally obliged with her when she saw she didn't need any dresses, she didn't know the girl still had her in mind. The thought made her heart feel full.

After shopping, she just showed Megan different places and she got herself new glasses as that was the reason she wanted to shop. The ones she got were still rounded but portable now. " Nice new look you've got there nerd", Megan commented causing Mabel to smile wild. " Allow me madame to introduce you to so many fine glasses, here we have long sighted, sunglasses and...", Mabel couldn't continue as she heard her mom's voice.

" Mabel? Mabel what are you doing here?", Flore asked as she walked over to her daughter, it seemed too good to be true, Mabel barely came to the store, fashion made her sick that was the answer.

" Mom meet my friend Megan Pierce, Megan meet my mom, Florence", Mabel introduced with a huge smile. The timing was just perfect as she stared at her mom who looked wide eyed and yet to recover from the introduction.

" Hi Mabel's mom", Megan said waving her hands and Flore finally recovered. " Nice to meet you Megan, Forgive me but I was just in shock, today just looks so good to be true, but you're real", Flore said touching Megan to see if she was actually human and alive and Megan laughed. " Mabel's mom were you expecting me to be a robot?", she said laughing and Flore shook her head.

" Actually with the way Mabel grew up I thought she was never going to make friends and I was literally scared it had gotten to the point where she makes robot as friends", Flore said chuckling like a mad woman and she kept on talking and talking.

Megan just kept smiling and laughing and Mabel frowned. " Mom at this point you might just steal my friend, leave something for the weird teen here", she grumbled but it was more of her being a baby and her Mom just smiled lightly and all of a sudden her eyes started watering.

Mabel felt confused as her Mom went to hug Megan admist her tears. " Thank you for being my baby's friend, i already had my insecurities and today cleared it all, you two have your fun", Flore said and left with her assistant who had been standing next to her the entire time.

" You have one fine looking mother, Mabel", Megan commented and Mabel smiled, took off her glasses and wiped a bit of her tears before putting them back on. " And I could tell those tears were genuine, let's head home", Megan concluded and they cashed in at the register before heading to Megan's car.

After Megan dropped her off at home, giving her the things that were meant for her, they said their goodbyes and promised to call the other. In summary, Mabel Cee was one step ahead of getting out of her lonely bubble.

Jace sat in front of the TV continuously changing the channels. He was so mad he could kill Holden right now. Holden wasn't home yet and loneliness was eating him up. Worse of all there was no high school romantic comedy he could watch, he then finally let the remote rest in adults news more like jibberish that teens couldn't see the point of.

" Jace had nothing much to do but watch the news so Holden was like, in your face my man", Holden said calmly as he walked in but Jace paid no attention to him, he wanted to totally ignore Holden.

" Come on don't tell me that you're still upset with me. I just did what I thought was right, little bro please don't be mad", Holden said as he knew it would piss Jace off and just as expected, Jace threw one of the couches pillow at him and he ducked. " We have resulted to violence now, little bro", he added again and Jace glared at him like he would eat him anytime soon

" I'm not your little Bro, we are literally the same age Holden", Jace yelled across and Holden smirked. " It's not funny Holden, you promised to stand by me, and the next second you ratt me out to mom", Jace said annoyed but Holden still kept his smirking expression on.

" Well you should have thought about me ratting you out before you prank called me, that's right", Holden said and Jace sighed. " Once Holden, I only pranked called you once and now you are blocking my actual contact, am upset...", Jace said and turned away from him to stare back at the boring news

Holden smiled and continued for him, " Am upset

Fifty thousand on my head is disrespect

So offended that I had to double check", Holden continued and started rapping Drake's lyric, a popular rapper.

It was also Jace's favorite song so when he heard it from Holden he wanted to ignore but couldn't and instead started lip singing and they both started singing and nodding till they heard the front door open and they quieted down and focused in front of the news like they had been watching it the entire time.

" America is progressing", Jace said in all seriousness and Holden sighed, grumbled and sighed again as his response. Their mom totally bought it and smiled. " Am glad the both of you are taking the country serious", she said with a huge smile but they barely looked at her, they had to make it look believing.

" Yeah mom go upstairs and take a nap", Jace said and continued watching and his mother smiled. Holden sighed, grumbled and sighed again as if in agreement and she went upstairs in all smiles.

" Phew, that was close", Jace said as they heard her room door close. " Yeah very", Holden finally said a word or two and Jace looked at him. " Bro you have to get me out of being grounded please", Jace seized the opportunity, Holden was in a good mood. " I'll see what I can do about it, for now let's watch the news".
