CHAPTER 34: More time.

Even with Sirin being constantly on edge, they eventually managed to get close to where the spirits were heading. They had disposed off a lot of them by now, tough the group was convinced that they would be second due to the other 'students' standing by the bait.

Eventually they couldn't bear it any longer and decided to see which of their classmates had managed to set up an offering, or formation powerful enough to lure spirits from the entire forest. And yet again, none of them played attention to the pleating demon, for if he were telling the truth, it wouldn't be that bad, right?

Sirin could only helplessly watch as the group moved closer to the demon that had hidden itself somewhere in the forest. The stench was clear to him now, the smell of home.

He knew that of he tried to intervene now he would probably draw the attention of the other demon. And since his consciousness, or at least a part of his soul was different from that of other demons, he doubted that this visitor would let him slip by.

It was not that he really cared about these weird, mammalian, mortals. But he wanted to stay here long enough to at least help his friend, preferably trough a deal. And something like that was hard to do if Hendrik died or if Sirin was send back to hell while trying to protect him.

Finally, they reached a large, unsecured area. The air here felt heavy and warm, a lot warmer than the rest of the forest.

The humans now also seemed to realise that something was off. Two drew their swords while Hendrik together with another random student slowly backed away.

Tough they were soon halted in their steps as something seemed to force them to stop moving. The humans couldn't see anything that was capable of this, tough Sirin saw the strings of magic woven into the air.

As seemingly the only one unaffected by this magic he moved forward.

"You can't hide from me worm-ridden fuck face." Now that the other demon had already noticed them and intervened, there was no reason to try to slip by.

Suddenly a figure emerged from the dark. It was thing and surrounded by a layer of thick black fog, its long tail was almost a whip that had come to life and its horns spread out like three branches

Sirin sighed. "Look, I'm not having the best time in my life right now, so I have no interest in getting involved in your eldritch bullshit. Just let these insolent mortals go and I won't try to spit in your mouth."

The demon tilted its head. "Watch the tongue, hatchling. For as far as I can tell, you haven't made a contract with any of them. Which means they're free for the taking."

Infusing himself with magic, Sirin dashed towards the older demon in a mere instant. Here he changed into a flame demon and tore through the demon's skin with burning claws.

The demon had obviously not suspected that this littler one was capable of suddenly altering its form to this extend and was simply startled.

However now that the young demon had actually attacked, the demon could not let it slip by.

Sirin yelped in pain as the demon grabbed him and tried to crush his spine.

Sirin quickly turned into his shade form and merged with the shadows in the hand of the demon. When he jumped out, he dashed away to get as much distance between them.

Here he gasped for air tough his breathing calmed once he slowly started to heal.

He had to quickly set his priority's. The first was his own life of course, but he would most likely only be sent back to hell if he lost. The second was Hendrik. If he could just spend a little more time with him then he might be able to make a deal with him to have a permanent connection to this world. The other students were just for show. It would be nice and convenient if they survived, but honestly, he couldn't care less.

As a shade demon he dashed from shadow to shadow, delivering strikes in between. Tough as he had suspected, it wouldn't be as easy as fighting the monsters in the first world he had been to. The demon sent out a shockwave in the form of a screech.

Sirin was instantly thrown out of the shadows and the students were thrown over, some were even bleeding from their nose and ears.

However, the other demon could have better used an alternate way of attacking. Now that the students were free, they could run away and light the emergency flares. That is if the teachers hadn't found the demon already by now.

It was only a matter of time before the battle would turn is his favour. At least that was what Sirin thought before he got impaled by a stone spike that had suddenly risen from the earth. In a flash the demon stood before him and tried to bite him in half.

Once again Sirin switched species as fast as he could and burned the inside of the monster's mouth with his flames.

He freed himself from the spike and tried to limp away. He needed more time, oh if he had just a little time to heal.

He bit his lip. This demon seemingly dint have wings, and he did. If he managed to fly out of reach, then he could heal to fight back.

Unable think of an alternate option he spread his feathered wings. They easily tore through his already damaged uniform, and he took to the skies
