Chapter 12 Surveillance_1

```
As the surveillance footage was about to be reviewed, Amelia's complexion changed, but since she was surrounded by her colleagues, she couldn't reveal too much.
Squatting on the ground, she directly wiped her tears, portraying herself as extremely wronged, "These young people nowadays, so arrogant as soon as they join the company. Are they just picking on me because I have no backing? Everyone saw what happened today. Even if you check the surveillance, so what? Could it turn out that I was the one who pushed you?"
Distorting facts and emotions, using tears to gain sympathy, she really put on a good act.
Sophia Cloud felt helpless, they were just bullying her because she was mute and couldn't speak.
As the commotion grew, the sound of crisp high heels suddenly echoed through the corridor. Everyone's expression changed drastically, scampering back to their seats with their tails between their legs, daring not to breathe too loud.
Sophia Cloud was puzzled when she saw someone enter from the doorway, dressed in a business suit with long hair pinned up behind her head, exuding a confident and capable aura.
Subconsciously, she felt that this woman must hold a position similar to a supervisor.
The woman's cool gaze swept across the office and finally landed on her. She raised an eyebrow slightly, "Are you the one brought in by Young Master Lewis?"
Sophia Cloud nodded slightly in response.
The woman stepped forward, looking down at her with a scrutinizing gaze, "Don't you know that it's very impolite not to respond in the same way when someone talks to you?"
Sophia Cloud paused for a moment, her hand lowered at her side fidgeted with the fabric of her clothes, and then she gestured with both hands. Considering that the woman might not understand, she pointed at her own throat afterward.
The woman was briefly stunned but recovered almost instantly, apparently not expecting her to be mute.
After scrutinizing her for a moment, she turned her gaze to Amelia, who was squatting on the ground.
Amelia, whose real name is Amelia Martin, had joined the Lewis's family company ten years ago and could be considered a long-standing employee.
The woman's gaze turned cold as she looked at the papers scattered all over the floor, "What is the meaning of this? What do you think the office is for?"
Amelia Martin was so scared that she couldn't even breathe, slowly rising to her feet with the documents in her arms. She glanced at Sophia Cloud before explaining.
"It was Miss Cloud who, out of anger for not being able to hold so many papers, threw them on the ground in a fit of rage."
Listening to this, Sophia Cloud wanted to laugh. Just a moment ago Amelia teferred to her as the new girl, and now she addressed her with respect as Miss Cloud, with such skill in twisting the truth that she could say it without a change in her face or heartbeat even in front of others.
The woman seemed interested and looked at Sophia Cloud, "Is that so?"
Sophia Cloud shook her head instinctively, as the cause, process, and result of the incident were too much to explain in the moment. She simply pointed at the surveillance camera and then bowed deeply to the woman.
Whatever the outcome, she didn't want to be wronged. After all, she was the actual victim.
The woman was clever and guessed her intention, so she commanded her assistant, "Go and check the surveillance."
These six words were like a time bomb, causing all the employees present to become restless.
Everyone knew very well how they had bullied Sophia Cloud when she first came to the office. Finishing five hundred copies in ten minutes was something not even the long-standing employees could accomplish, let alone a new one.
The woman pulled over a chair to sit down, her presence different from others, and someone even brought her tea and water.
Sophia Cloud retracted her gaze, blinked her eyes, and returned to her seat to continue working.
Reviewing surveillance footage was a lengthy process, requiring the footage to be brought up. During this time, the woman drank five cups of coffee and frowned in impatience several times.
All of this was observed by Sophia Cloud, who couldn't help but feel grateful.
Since the fall of the Cloud Family, besides Tiana Cooper and those who were kind to her, this was the only stranger who had stood up for her.
Even though impatience was written all over her face, she was still waiting.
```

Half an hour had passed, and the assistant returned with the USB drive, respectfully handing it over to Scarlet Lewis.

She toyed with the tiny USB drive, a smile spreading across her lips, "I'll give you another chance. If you explain things clearly, maybe I can go easy on the punishment."

Everyone exchanged looks privately. Scarlet Lewis usually never came to their department, and no one expected her to suddenly show up today—it was completely unforeseen.

Seeing that nobody spoke, Scarlet Lewis continued to press intimidatingly, "Five seconds. If I have to find out myself, you know what the consequences will be."

At these words, everyone shivered involuntarily.

They all knew that Miss Lewis family, Scarlet Lewis, was decisive and ruthless when it came to handling staff, making her a great asset in restructuring the company.

If she caught something firsthand, the outcome would be unimaginable.

Someone sneaked a glance at Amelia Martin and, gritting their teeth, stepped forward.

"Miss Lewis, regarding today's incident, all the faults were solely caused by Amelia Martin."

Sophia Cloud narrowed her gaze as she continued to fiddle with the USB drive in her hand, radiating an intimidating presence, "Go on."

"When Miss Cloud first came to the company, Amelia Martin instructed her to photocopy a thousand documents in ten minutes, but upon learning that Miss Cloud was… was mute, she lowered the demand, asking her to photocopy five hundred instead within the same time."

Scarlet Lewis shifted her posture, crossing her legs and propping her head with her arms, lazily looking at Sophia Cloud, "Is that so?"

Suddenly called upon, Sophia Cloud lightly nodded, signifying her agreement.

The person continued, "Miss Cloud refused, and Amelia Martin then resorted to verbal abuse. After that, she threatened her with Young Master Lewis, and only then did Miss Cloud take the documents to be photocopied."

"Later, when Miss Cloud exceeded the photocopying time limit and had a dispute with Amelia Martin, we didn't see clearly how those documents ended up on the floor."

During that earlier scene, everyone was confused. They only saw Amelia Martin picking on Sophia Cloud but didn't see her push Sophia, so they couldn't easily come to a conclusion.

"So you're saying," Scarlet Lewis paused, her gaze piercing the speaker, "that you still don't know the root cause?"

The person was so frightened that they immediately fell silent, hanging their head, not knowing what to do, somewhat incoherent.

Scarlet Lewis handed the USB drive to her assistant, then stood up and began pacing back and forth in the office, her gaze sweeping over them like an eagle's.

Her voice took on an icy edge, heavily crashing over everyone present.

"Since when does Lewis's family company condone bullying new employees?"

"You senior staff, seeing the newcomer being bullied and pretending nothing is happening, turning a blind eye?"

"Lewis's family doesn't need such useless staff! You've even forgotten the most basic moral principles."

"Talking about those who are over thirty, educated at least to the bachelor's degree level, what, did all your education go to the dogs!?"

The scolding came one after another, turning their faces instantly the color of liver.

What she was doing wasn't just for Sophia Cloud; it was also for the company.

When the staff morale was low, it could easily affect the company's culture. Why keep such a contaminated atmosphere around?

Scarlet Lewis burst into anger and directly instructed her assistant, "Play the surveillance footage!"

Amelia Martin's face turned pale, and she collapsed onto the ground in fear.
