39. Counterattack (1)

After Harry and I got home, we took the time to calm the boy down. He let me read the will, which was nothing more, his parents telling him how much they loved him, choosing his guardians, and some explanation.

Among the explanations, why the choices in the order, Sirius Black, Remus Lupine, Alice and Frank Longbottom and Amelia Bones, should be his tutors. As well as who was the secret keeper.

"Harry, your decision, do you want to get my father, your godfather out of prison now?" I finally ask, looking at the slightly calmer Harry.

"I don't know, what is he like?" his expression was worried.

"A 10-year-old in the body of a 30-year-old." I reply with a tired sigh, making Harry chuckle.

"Well, that being the case, I guess that's fine, but what does it matter now?"

"You see, by wizarding law, he is your legal guardian, when he is cleared of false accusations, he is the one who will look after you, and me by implication, as the mangy dog is my father." I take the cup of coffee brought by Nina.

After taking a sip, I continue. "If I'm not wrong, he's a very nice guy, but he has a serious problem with his attitude, taking everything as a joke, and not knowing how to measure the consequences of them." I finish, staring at Harry.

"Don't worry so much bro, we can fix him." and this time, he's the one trying to calm me down, the irony of things. "But why mangy dog?"

"When we free him, you'll find out. Ready to start our counterattack?" I let a sinister smile spread across my face, and Harry follows suit, but his smile doesn't manage to be that sinister.

A few days pass, and finally, the Daily Prophet is mine. This would make things a lot easier, and changes have already started to take place, mainly because the newspaper was now cheaper, and many more people had access to it.

"Harry, we have a meeting at 9 with Mrs. Amelia, and another at 2 with the gossip reporter. We're going to Gringotts." We finish our breakfast, change into nice clothes and use the Floo net.

Arriving at the bank, we were taken to a separate room, where we found the woman Bones waiting for us.

"Sorry I'm late Madam Bones, we were finishing up some stuff." I say entering the room, surprising the woman.

"You're not late, Mr. Black, it's just been 9 o'clock." she points to a clock on the wall. "But let's be brief, I still need to get back to work." she extends her hand, shaking me and then Harry.

After settling into our seats, we started. "Madame Bones, as succinctly as possible, let's reopen my father's case." I start, but I stop her before she interrupts me.

"To try to answer the many questions the madam probably has, let me finish. My father was accused of being the traitor to the Potters, as well as murdering 12 Muggles by blowing up a street and then killing his friend.

All this is nothing but lies. He was never given a trial, something he has been waiting 12 years lying in Askaban. They never tested his wand, to find out what was the last spell he used.

They never questioned him either, even knowing that a few days ago, he had lost his two best friends. More importantly, he was never the Potters' Secret-Keeper, so Madam Bones, do we have the right to reopen the case?"

She was stunned now. Every single one of the accusations Sirius responded to was there, but there was never a trial, something she urgently needed to find out, as if Sirius really wasn't the Secret-Keeper, things could get very bad for the Ministry.

"Can you prove any of the allegations made, Mr. Black?" it was her last thread of hope, or the mess would be gigantic.

Harry gets up, and hands her a slim folder, which she opens, and reads carefully. Tears formed in his eyes, and after she was done, she closed the folder, placed it on the table, and in one swift motion, used her wand, creating a perfect copy.

"What will they do now?" she asks after putting the copy away.

"We have already filed a request for a formal hearing with the ICW, which will be convened the day after tomorrow. I don't trust your minister and much less the Ministry, despite the fact that there are still good people there.

I hope you are prepared, Madame Amelia, because I very much doubt that the puppet minister will last very long. And take that information as a bonus, he'll be down soon." I say giving him a smile.

OVERALL POV (Meanwhile at the Ministry of Magic)

20 wand-wielding wizards appear in the Ministry atrium. His robes are elegant, carrying a very peculiar emblem. It was a globe, with the initials ICW in gold.

As if they owned the place, the group splits up shortly after exiting the elevator. 4 of them go towards a group of Aurors, who were sitting at their desks. Another group, with the same number, goes towards the file room.

The third group, takes the elevator, pressing the floor where the Minister is, and the last one, is just on watch, looking at the situation as a whole.

Of course, these people were really drawing attention, and shortly after, the elevator opens again, with the previous group back at the side of the British Minister for Magic.

"Will you have the decency to explain to me what's going on here?" the nervous and always sweaty Minister of Magic asks, knowing that something is wrong, it just doesn't feel right.

"We are the ICW representatives called to a special hearing. Mr Sirius Black's case will be reviewed and analyzed by us as it has been alleged that his ministry was negligent towards the accused, abuse of power and not least, bribery. Case proven If so, you and those involved will be prosecuted."

One of the mages answers the question posed, one that the Minister now doesn't want to ask. He just swallows hard, and starts praying to whatever god might help him.

A pity, that no God will hear your prayer.
