Denpasar Bali & Bali Museum

Denpasar (Balinese: ᬤᬾᬦ᭄ᬧᬲᬃ) is the capital city of the province of Bali, Indonesia. Denpasar is the largest city in the Nusa Tenggara Islands and the second largest city in Eastern Indonesia after Makassar City. The growth of the tourism industry on the island of Bali encourages the city of Denpasar to become a center of business activity, and places this city as an area that has per capita income and high growth in the province of Bali.

Etymology

The name Denpasar comes from the words "den" (north) and "market" so that overall it means "north of the market". The origin of this word indicates the city's origins as a market town, in what is now Pasar Kumbasari (formerly "Peken Payuk"), in the northern part of the modern city.
