Chapter 25: Hui Yun's date

A week passed and I decided to stay home for the weekend. Gu Ling Yi had been pestering me this whole week asking me whether or not I had asked Hui Yun so now I have to deal with Hui Yun throwing a tantrum when she hears I've set her for a blind date again. I don't blame her though. Since she asked the professor to change her major I've gotten even more worried. Luckily the professor wanted her to finish this term first before she moves. So that means we've three months before the end of the term for her to fall in love.

The academic year in china starts in September and ends in mid-July. The Chinese school year is broken into two semesters, the first beginning in the fall and lasting until the beginning of January. Everyone generally has three weeks to a month to travel during the Chinese New Year holiday, then the school year ends in May or June.

I remember in my last life mei-mei didn't encounter the accident until April so she would only have to study her remaining major for two months instead she now has to study it for three months. The timing is different and this time Hui Yun has to fall in love before the next academic year.

After I freshen myself up I stepped out of my room and proceeded to walk down the corridor to look for Hui Yun. I stopped right in front of her door signed and knocked lightly. 'Knock, knock.

"Hui Yun are you in?" I asked as I pushed open her door. As I opened her door she glanced at me and unplug her airpod whilst sitting probably again. "Jie are you looking for me?" she asked as I nodded. "How long has it been since I've been in here?" I questioned whilst looking around. "A long time," she replied closing her laptop to face me. I looked around and it suddenly dawned on me that even Hui Yun's room changed. When she was younger her room was plastered around with a princess stickers and she had her very own drawing table as well. Now her room was light peachy wallpaper and her once drawing table was now a dressing table. Her room was styled in a way like mine it was just that her wardrobe had no clothes, it was filled with shoes and bags that she had gotten as a present.

"So I've found another young man wanna go?" I asked as she pulled a face. I laughed heartily and said but that person is someone who knows you well. "Who," she asked. "Your bestie Gu Ling Yi," I replied as she rubbed her eyes and glanced again at me. "You're not serious are you?" she questioned. I nodded and gave her a face saying 'duh'. "Oh come on he's not that bad is he?" I reasoned. He is bad. I don't like him. But it's better to have one more friend than to have one more enemy is it not? "Didn't you like him before? When you were younger," I remembered. "Yeah I did but that was before. If he wasn't such a playboy then I might give him a couple more glances but he is a playboy though," she announced. "Oh so you admit that you think she is handsome," I smirked as she blushed. " So if he isn't a playboy then..." I asked quickly. "Maybe," she replied. "Oh ok," I laughed.

Looks like Gu Ling Yi isn't going to be my brother-in-law. What a shame. Not. Looks like these two pairs have no fate. I continued chatting with Hui Yun before I made an excuse to return to my room. Opening my phone I texted Gu Ling Yi Hui Yun's reply was:

Hui Qing: mei said she has no interest in you and would rather not ruin her reputation to be with you. {sad face emoji}

Gu Ling Yi: What?

Gu Ling Yi: Was that her actual words?

(Of course, it wasn't but we don't need him to know that. Besides Hui Yun doesn't like him. So it should be ok to add a few more spicy words right?)

Hui Qing: My sister said that she would've considered you had it not been for your reputation as a playboy.

Hui Qing: I'm afraid I wasn't much help.

Hui Qing: I'm afraid you and Hui Yun don't have any fate.

Hui Qing: You guys just aren't meant to be.

Hui Qing: One says you'll find your true soulmate.

Hui Qing: But that won't be Hui Yun

Hui Qing: Sorry again

Hui Qing: I wish you luck in your future relationship...

A few moments later I received a message from Brother Gu saying thank you and that he will work hard to earn Hui Yun's love. What a devoted soldier. Aiyo...
