chapter 8

"You would've turned me into the guards by now." It was true. All the men that had heard the women speak before being spoken to would be automatically thrown to the wolves. "We, as women, have tried to fight back, but were hung instead. Now that's not right." Jaysa spoke with a mix of pain and passion in her voice.

"I can say one thing." The boy paused briefly. "You have some real balls to be talking like this." Jaysa grinned.

"I would take that as a compliment." Jaysa grinned. "It seems like I'm really the only girl that would speak out like this. What I'm really waiting for is the Prince to take over as soon as possible. We don't want him to follow his uncle's ways. Everyone loved the previous King, that is, until he passed away. If the Prince is able to follow his father's ways, then everything will go back to our peaceful days. Women can have freedom they once had. Women would no longer be scared." Jaysa stopped for moment before continuing. "My mother told me that everyone loved the previous King, some even treasured him." She looked at the young boy. She wore a gentle smile on her face that warmed the young boy's heart. No one had ever talked to him like this before. He was dying to hear more. So he spoke.

"What if the Prince doesn't want to become King? Everyone might have loved his father, but why does he have to be like his father or his uncle? Can't he just be who he really is?"

"Well yeah, he can be his own person." Jaysa spoke. "He can be whoever he wants to be. But I'm just saying that we hope he rules the Kingdom like his father, and not like his uncle."

"So he can be who he wants to be? Would that be okay?" The teenager asked. Jaysa looked at him. She didn't know why he was asking these questions, but replied with.

"Yes he can." A smile spread across the teens girls face. Suddenly the two teens heard a loud slamming sound come from behind them. The boy grabbed Jaysa's hand pulling her onto her knees to have the crates hide them from the intruders. "What the hell are you doing?" Jaysa squeaked out. The blonde boy hushed her up by putting his lips on hers. His hand was holding the back of her head so the girl could not move out of his grasp. Jaysa slowly lost her senses as the boy continued kissing her. The teenagers could hear the footsteps of someone walking closer to them. Jaysa, not thinking, try to open her mouth to speak. When she opened her mouth, the young boy took the action as her saying it was okay to go further and deepened the kiss. Jaysa was now past shock or surprise. She didn't know what this feeling was, but it started to feel quite nice. Jaysa didn't realize that she started to participate in the kiss or that the footsteps that were coming their way had vanished with the sound of the door closing. She was absorbed into that kiss and nothing else mattered. Once they finally broke apart. Jaysa glanced at the blonde boy who had a smirk on his face. She felt her face flush red. Without thinking, or a warning, Jaysa's right hand hit something hard and pain shot through it. It took both teenagers a moment to realize what had happened. She slapped him, she slapped him twice. Twice in one day. What was he thinking? How can he just kiss me like that? Why is he such a good kisser? No, no, that is not the point, but he? She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard the other teen shout out.

"Damn it! That is the second time that you hit me?" He hissed at the pain that begun to build up in his cheek making it burn.

"Well, it's your fault for kissing me like that." Jaysa tried to yell back, but her voice cracked up instead. He smirked at the young girl.

"Don't tell me that was your first kiss?" He grinned as the girl turned her head away.

"Doesn't matter if it was or not, but…but you shouldn't go around doing stuff like that" Jaysa couldn't help it. She could feel the heat on her face and it humiliated her even more. When the boy first woke up, she was red with anger. Now she was red for an entirely different reason. It was that damn kiss, that stupid damn kiss. That boy threw her off of her game and she did not like that. "Listen, who knows when those damn guards are coming back, but I have other stuff I have to do. I'm not going to sit here and let you do as you please with me. If you wish for your death, then keep sleeping here. I really don't give a damn anymore." The boy smirked. Jaysa walked off towards the exit when she felt someone grab her by the arm. He twisted her around to take her lips one more time before letting her go, leaving her even more colorful then she was. Jaysa glared at the blonde boy one last time before exiting out of the storage shack completely.

Even though Jaysa was able to exit the storage without the younger teenager following her, she was still cautious. Jaysa was able to safely make it back to her spot at the table. She suddenly remembered the reason why she went into the shack in the first place. She forgot all about that animal. It was all because of him, that she forgot. There was nothing that she could do now. Jaysa was back at the bench so she sat down and looked at the stack of vegetables. Jaysa realizes that the pile was smaller than it was when she left. The teenager was unable to hold in a smile. She looked up to the young girl she talked to before. She was rewarded with a nod from the girl. It looked like Jaysa had never left her spot. Jaysa was grateful for the act that she never asked for her. Jaysa started on her next batch of vegetables that came her way. Her smile grew greater in her mind, because she had made a friend.
