Something poked his side. He ignored it. The poking continued and had more force than the last.
Who's poking me? Danzel questioned himself. He wanted to sleep.
"Boy… Hey…Wake up…" The voice yelled.
Why are they calling me boy? Danzel thought. Did they not know who they speak to? Danzel wanted nothing to do with this person yelling at him. He tried his best to ignore whoever it was. Danzel's eyes went wide open with shock. Something or someone had hit him. His eyes darted around the area and land on a young girl. Anger showed in her eyes. He soon felt heat building in his cheeks. Tears formed in his eyes. He had never felt pain like this before.
"Oh please, don't even try to start that drama crap with me. I'm not in the mood." The girl spoke out.
How dare she. Danzel thought. She should know her place. The girl's hands were upon his shoulders and spoke to him again. How dare she touch me? He thought. Who does she think she is? He showed the same anger on his face to her. He jumped to his feet, the girl stood straight up. She stood as tall as he did. He stared in her grayish brown eyes with his ocean blue eyes. "How dare you speak to me like that?" Danzel spoke to the girl with anger. "You are only a woman, and a filthy one at that." He stared at the girl in front of him. She stood in front of him covered in dirt. He knew right away that she was a peasant. The dress she wore looks like it hasn't been washed in months. How could she wear something like that and be proud? There was no way he could wear something he wore from the day before. He'd rather walk around naked. Her face and hair were just as bad. Just by looking at her it looked like she had not bathed the months. How come she looks like this? Do they not have baths to bathe in or something? Danzel thought.
"Who the hell do you think you are calling filthy?" The young girl yelled at Danzel. "I'm working my ass off to make that dick you call King happy and help out your lazy ass Noble jerks by taking full credit for our work." Danzel couldn't believe his ears. She thinks he was a Noble. Does he look like a Noble? No, what's really wrong was she just called his uncle dick. How dare she? He may not have the brightest plan on how to rule the Kingdom, but by no means was he going to allow her to bash his uncle.
"You want to die? You will die with that mouth of yours."
"What are you going to do? Be a jerk and turn me in?" The girl spat back.
Wow! Danzel thought. This girl was actually talking back to him. He couldn't believe that. He had never had someone actually talk back to him before. He was actually interested by this girl. He wondered how far he could push her. "What if I did?"
"Then you're as much as a dick as the King." Danzel about blew a casket. He couldn't believe that she just lumped him with his uncle. He was not his uncle.
"I'm nothing like him!" Danzel yelled at the girl that stood in front of him. "He is his own person. I'm different." He puffed up a bit. He never wanted to hear someone say he was like his uncle in any way.
"Then why are you speaking to me like I'm lower than you?" He was shocked by the question. It had nothing to do with his uncle. He was the Prince of the Kingdom, of course he will look down at her. However, he couldn't let her know that he was the Prince. So he said what flowed out of his mouth which was.
"You're a woman. Of course your lower than me." He soon regretted those words. The anger in her eyes was on fire. She lifted up her fist and shook it and his face. Danzel didn't know if the girl was going to hit him and took a step backwards. He tripped over his own feet and fell onto the ground.
"I may be a girl, but I'm a girl that can kick your fancy ass to the next town." Danzel was astonished that this girl would still speak the same way. The way she spoke sounded as if she were threatening him. He stayed quiet as she kept ranting on. "I bet that you're the type to think that all women should have no rights. You sure do talk like it." He had nothing to say. Just listening to her speak, perked his interest. So he continued to stay quiet. "Well sorry, but I don't believe in any of that bullshit no matter what sex you are. I believe that everyone is equal and should be treated as such. With that fact, you should know that I hate the King. I bet he has some major issues with the women and that is why he had taken away our freedom. He's afraid of the voices of women." Danzel was almost speechless. If he didn't know better, he could have sworn he had just imagined her standing on the balcony looking down at his village and making that speech while the villagers cheered to her, loving and eating everything she said. She had a voice. A voice he thought was only made for men. He couldn't help but smirk on the inside. This was the type of girl he would want to marry, to have by his side.
"You must not be scared of death, if you can speak like that." He saw a smirk appear on the young girl's face.
"Do you take me to be a stupid girl?"
Wow! She's got some major balls. Danzel thought.
"I'm not someone that would say something like this knowing I would get into trouble."
