Chapter 42

  When we landed in Paris my nose was running and I was coughing. I must have caught something during the flight because I felt miserable.

  It was morning and the city was covered in clouds. Small snowflakes fell from the dark skies and I shivered as we waited for a taxi to take us to the hotel.

  “I think you should stay in and get some rest, my dear,” said my grandmother when we had settled in our room.

  It was a two-bedroom apartment with a living room and two bathrooms. The view showed the Eiffel Tower and the Seine river. I guessed it would have cost a good chunk of cash if it wasn’t for it being free. My grandfather had paid extra for me, but it wasn’t that much since he didn’t make a face when he handed over his credit card.

  “I think you are right. Maybe I can sleep it off?”
