The mages, apparently, had learnt their lesson not to confront him, and as we passed beyond the boundaries of the city, we were not pursued, except for by a handful of birds that circled overhead.
“Not so discrete,” he commented, with dry amusement. We were passing through fields, tall corn framing the road. “We’ll give it a little longer,” he decided, “and then I’ll cast a portal to the next location.”
“Where are we going?”
“What do you know about dragons?” he asked me.
“That they like to eat virgins,” I replied.
“Eating a virgin is the last thing a dragon will do,” he snorted. “Dragons are notoriously... ah,” he paused delicately and then chuckled. “Lascivious.”
“Lascivious,” I repeated. “How is that...?”
“Dragons are dual natured. They can take on man-form.”
“Oh,” I blinked, and then blushed. “My goodness.”
Rivyn laughed.
“You are considering using me as bait?” my voice rose at the end in scandalised horror as I realised his plan.
