  I worked against him, seeking release, and managed to smother my cry as I attained it. His breath was hot against his skin and his grip tightened as he followed. For a moment, we were stationary, as the ripples in the water settled around us.

  "Now I have worked up a hunger," he told me, with a devastating grin.

  We settled back into the water and feasted in between washing each other's hair. The water was cold by the time we summoned the servants to help us out. We collapsed into the bed, still slightly damp, and exhausted from the day.

  "It is good," he said softly, drawing me onto his chest and stroking his fingers over my shoulder and arm. "What we have, Ecaeris. Isn't it?"

  "Yes," I agreed, a lock of his hair between my fingers. "This is good Akyran."

  He sighed heavily, but it was a contented sigh. "I love you."

  I lifted to brush my lips over his. "I love you too."
