Chapter 634 [ Great Gruen Volcano - IX ]

"Oh, yes there is, although it's a bit complicated to achieve" - Eri replied as she tilted her head - "At least for you demons".

"What do I need to do?" - Freid asked while gritting his teeth.

"Nothing too difficult, you just need to get a powerful enough source of holy energy, and make it flow through your body" - Eri replied with a sadistic smile - "As for the results, well, there is a small chance of saving you, and a very big chance of dying in the slowest and most painful way possible."

"There is only that option?" - Freid asked with a frown.

"Yes, and if I'm honest with you, I think you'd better do it as quickly as possible, because corruption is a state that spreads quickly through the victim's body, soon you will be nothing more than an empty shell that will only desire the destruction of everything around you, instinctively following the desires of the one who corrupted you."

Freid gritted his teeth before riding off on his dragon, completely unaware that the human girl had come looking for him.

"Interesting, Cloud-san has the power of corruption, though that shouldn't be possible" - muttered Eri while frowning - "If this is true, then things will get complicated for us."

Eri quickly shook her head and disappeared into the shadows, one of the many advantages she had gained by switching teams.

"This place looks empty" - muttered Shizuku as she looked around, confused because she was expecting better if she was honest, after all, this was the first time she managed to reach the end of a maze, despite how far she had come in [Orcus].

What the girl didn't know, was that the 100th floor of the [Great Orcus Labyrinth], was only half of the test, as well as a harsh reality check that the creator had designed. Oscar Orcus had decided to use this as a test and only those who could keep going despite the despair of seeing the end. Not to mention that the difficulty between the first 100 floors, and the next 100, was like comparing heaven to earth.

That aside, Cloud was staring at the wall of the monolith they had entered, only to see vague messages about the future of humanity.

"According to Orcus-san, another one of the [Liberators] should be sealed here." - Yue said as she looked around the place.

The god-age magic had already been stored in their heads, in other words, they could use it from the moment they entered the monolith, and this time it was [Space Magic].

"If I remember correctly, his name was Naiz Gruen Caliente" - Yue mused as she felt that now everything made sense - "That demon must have passed the test of this labyrinth, that's why he was able to attack us without us noticing."

"It's a possibility," Cloud nodded as he touched a part of the wall and pulled out a medallion, "And I guess this is the proof we need to enter the labyrinth in the sea of trees. Now the question is, is there any way to contact Gruen-san?"

"Maybe the same way as with Orcus, try using the medallion as a catalyst"- Yue replied as she watched Cloud take the medallion curiously.

The blond slowly injected his mana into the object and began to feel everything around him start to distort.

"Cloud?" - Shea said in surprise as she watched the blond stand still, not moving a muscle.

Tio frowned because she could feel that even Cloud's mana was static, which should be impossible, because mana was just like blood, it kept moving throughout a person's body.

Yue remained calm as she waited for her husband to come to.

Shizuku stayed out of the situation because she was amazed at the different applications she could use the magic she just got - "Maybe with this I'll be closer to being a monster like them."

Cloud slowly opened his eyes and noticed how he was in a white room where the only thing that seemed to be present was a kind of pedestal with a strange red rock in the centre.

He slowly approached the place and waited for something to happen, although after waiting a few minutes he noticed that nothing was happening, so he touched the stone.

The pedestal began to shake as a strange silhouette appeared on the red stone.

"Hello" - said the silhouette of a tall, muscular man with rusty red hair. He was looking at Cloud with his eyes the same colour as his hair as he frowned because he felt that this guy was very different from how he appeared - "Anyway, I guess you're one of the ones who managed to pass my maze test."

"I guess that's the only way we could talk" - Cloud replied with disdain.

"Tch, smartass" - growled the red-haired man - "Anyway, if you made it through my test, it means you've already made it through another maze and are aware of the overall situation, and seeing as how you managed to contact me, I'd like to assume you've already spoken to Oscar."

"Yes, it was an interesting conversation" - Cloud replied as he closed his eyes.

"Well, that makes things a lot easier, Oscar was always the most organised of us, as well as the most academic, I'm sure he must have filled you in on everything, and that's why you contacted me, although now I'm curious, why did you call me?" - Gruen asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"Oscar Orcus said that you the creators of the labyrinths were sealed in these, and that you were possibly one of the few that were still alive, although seeing your attitude, I'm sure that's not the case" - answered Cloud while frowning.

"No, I'm not alive anymore, at least not like you think" - replied Gruen while shaking his head - "The truth is that I always had a problem with women, every time a pretty girl flirted with me, I couldn't do anything to hide my shame, but it was during my joining the [Liberators], when I saved two girls, a couple of sisters. They spent most of their time by my side, even when I told them to run away."

Naiz Gruen closed his eyes for a few seconds as he recalled the past with a smile - "But it was during our last battle against Ehit, when everything got out of control. He managed to capture people important to us, I tried to rescue them with my space bending skills."

"Things didn't go as you wished" - Cloud said while frowning.

"Yes, I didn't manage to save anyone because Ehit was prepared to block my ability, it was at that moment that I watched as the two most important people in my life, were torn apart by the dimensional currents" - muttered Gruen as he gritted his teeth - "As Meiru's sister disappeared into the dimensional rift while the other prisoners were kept locked up".

Cloud was silent as he watched what was left of a former hero.

"I failed... and in my desperation I tried to take Ehit with me, but all I gained was to have my body destroyed by my uncontrolled power, and as a last measure of protection, I managed to move my consciousness to the stone in front of you" - sighed Gruen as he shook his head - "I am still alive, but at times like this, I wish I was dead, so I could at least go to the afterlife and be able to apologise to all those I failed"

"I'm sorry for your loss" - Cloud said as he looked at the man.

"No, I don't need your sorrow, what I need, no, what I want is for you to please finish what we started" - Naiz Gruen Caliente said as he gritted his teeth in fury - "I want you to kill Ehit, to end his tyranny, to avenge all those who have sacrificed themselves for this cause."

"I plan to kill him, so I have no problem with accepting your request" - Cloud replied honestly.

"Thank you, there's nothing more I can give you as a thank you, so I'm just going to tell you one thing" - said Gruen seriously - "Of the 7 creators, I'm sure only two are still alive and waiting to wake up."

"Only two?" - Cloud asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, and it's those two" - replied Gruen firmly - "I'm talking about Meiru, who is half dragon and half vampire, giving her enough vitality to survive"

"And the other one?" - Cloud asked with mild interest.

"The other one is Haltina, that crazy bitch is an elven princess" - said Gruen while shaking his head - "Of the two, Haltina is the more dangerous, not because of her magical power or combat skills, but because she is insane."

Cloud gave the red-haired man a blank look because he wasn't expecting this kind of reaction, although after remembering how he himself said that he was a person who had problems with women, it shouldn't be much of a surprise.

"As I was saying, old Bran died in battle, Miledi has possibly found a way to save himself knowing how annoyingly perceptive he is" - Gruen muttered as he frowned - "Come to think of it, Vandre may have survived too, though I honestly wouldn't expect it, because as cowardly as he can be sometimes, he's the first person to jump into battle when others are in danger"
