Chapter 588 [ Great Raisen Labyrinth - III ]

"Now, how do we get into the maze?" - Yue asked with a frown.

"I have no idea" - replied Yue as she leaned against the wall, only to let out a scream when it opened - "Gyaaaaaaaaa!"

"Well, we know how" - Cloud muttered as he shook his head.

Yue and Cloud, slowly entered the maze, only to be greeted by an arrow that went straight for their faces, which Cloud parried without much trouble.

"Where's Shea?" - Yue asked as she raised an eyebrow, only to see how the poor girl was in the distance, trapped in the wall because the silhouette of her body was surrounded by arrows - "There she is!"

"I hate this maze!" - Shea exclaimed as she removed herself from the wall and looked around until she spotted a strange stone tablet - "Hint!"

Yue walked over to the tablet and started reading aloud - "You got scared, you got scared, didn't you? *condescending smile* The person who got caught by such an easy trap, has to be really stupid!"

"Mukiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ~!" - Sha shouted furiously while destroying the tablet with a gasp, only to see how underneath it, there was another text - "Tough luck, this tablet regenerates over time.... Gyaaa!"

"This maze will be difficult for other reasons" - Cloud muttered while holding the bridge of his nose.

"I think the person responsible for creating this maze, had a lot of time on their hands" - Yue added with a vacant stare.

She didn't need to have the ability to see the future to know that overcoming this maze would be a pain in the ass.

"Just a little more and we'll get to the 50th floor" - Kouki said as he wiped the sweat from his forehead.

During all this time, they had been slowly advancing through the different floors of [Orcus], and thanks to Rika, their progress had been quite fast compared to the beginning.

Kouki wouldn't lie, he was amazed at the tan-skinned bow master's very precise skills.

"Still no news from Cloud" - Kaori muttered regretfully as she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Relax, no news, it's good news" - smiled Shizuku as she looked around - "But it's strange, this floor is different from the rest."

Rika slowly touched the ground and noticed a small detail - "There are marks that someone passed through this place a long time ago."

"How long?" - Ryutaro asked as he folded his arms.

The other heroes were curious as well.

"A few weeks ago, maybe a month" - answered Rika while opening her eyes.

"Impossible, the labyrinth has been closed to the public for our training for the first two weeks of our arrival in this world" - Kouki replied with a frown because the girl's words didn't add up - "The security was rigid, so it's quite impossible for someone to have entered without anyone noticing."

"Cloud!" - Kaori exclaimed excitedly because this was possibly the first proof that he was still alive.

"You're saying Strife came to this place? That doesn't make much sense" - Daisuke said disdainfully - "He was the one with the least potential."

Kaori gave him an annoyed look, but said nothing because there was no need to. She was confident that the blond was still alive, a sentiment Shizuku shared because she knew how strong he was since before he came to this world.

Rika paid no mind, she just followed the footprints that had hardened over time, and arrived at the strange temple that looked like it had been destroyed by a battle.

"Those statues look imposing" - Ryutaro muttered as he whistled in appreciation.

"I know, they would look like they could attack you at any moment" - nodded a girl while frowning - "But it's strange that they all have a huge hole in their heads."

"Possibly, the person who passed through here, anticipated" - replied Rika with a serious tone - "After eliminating these giant statues, he passed through these doors"

Kaori tried to move forward, but Shizuku stopped her because they didn't know what was behind these doors.

Rika slowly opened the door, revealing a huge room that appeared to be partially destroyed. She noticed the aftermath of a battle where ammunition and possibly fire magic was used by the scorch marks on the floor and some walls, which was strange because she was sure Cloud didn't possess magic in this world.

The purple haired girl, slowly walked towards the center of the room where she noticed that there were fragments of a strange mineral - "Whoever has the ability to [Identify] come forward."

"Ok" - nodded a girl as her eyes glittered slightly - "Impossible, I can't identify this stone, I'm not level enough."

Rika frowned, but said nothing to annoy the girl further, she quickly set about checking the surroundings until she noticed something in the distance - "Wait, I think I saw something."

The group was surprised to hear this and quickly followed her, only to see how near the gate, there was a message engraved on one of the walls.

"Is this Japanese?" - Kouki asked in surprise because he wasn't expecting this.

"It's Cloud, I knew it!" - Kaori exclaimed with excitement as a small smile appeared on Shizuku's face.

Daisuke and Kouki for their part, weren't too happy about this.

"If you're reading this, then I have to congratulate you for making it this far" - muttered Rika as she rolled her eyes at these patronizing words - "Anyway, I'd better get straight to the point, yes, I'm still alive and I'm in perfect condition. I managed to use the [Behemoth] as a quilt to cushion my fall, so I ended up without many injuries, and honestly that saved my life. I'm not going to go into details about how I survived, we can talk about that when we meet again, but there's something I want you to know, I know who it was that attacked me, and I'm coming after you."

"Those words are a bit ominous, they're not like something he would say" - Kaori muttered as she ignored how Daisuke was trembling, terrified for his future.

"Well, falling into an abyss where any creature can kill you in a matter of seconds would change me too" - replied Shizuku sarcastically as she looked at Daisuke without pity because that was what he had earned with his actions - "Though now the question is, do we keep moving forward or do we go back?"

"I don't want to go on, I'm tired" - Kaori muttered as she sighed regretfully. She had only resisted all this time because she wanted news from Cloud, and now that she had it, there was no point in moving on and she just had to wait for him to return.

"Hmm, I get what you're trying to say" - Shizuku nodded as she looked around and noticed for the first time since they started this journey, the exhausted expression of her classmates - "The good thing is that we reached the 50th floor and can return without much complication."

The only good thing about this labyrinth, was that every 10 floors, the people who managed to reach the place could use a mechanism to return home that was at the entrance of the floor, although unfortunately, this mechanism was only backwards, in other words, the heroes had to start from floor 1 if they wanted to conquer the labyrinth.

Kouki frowned, but didn't say anything against this because he could tell that his companions were about to get out of control from the stress of days inside this place- "Ok, let's go back to the stairs and go back."

"Hai!" - exclaimed the heroes as they sighed in relief, well, all but Daisuke who didn't know what to do in this situation, after all, he had a mark on his head.

". . ." - Cloud, Yue, and Shea, gave a blank stare at the stone tablet in front of them.

The reason? Well...

[Fufufu ~! As you may have noticed, you guys are back at the starting point ~! How does it feel that all your efforts have been in vain ~? Oh, and don't try to go back because it's useless, this labyrinth is designed to constantly change after a certain amount of time, so it's no use for you to try to follow the same path ~]

"Daughter of!" - Yue exclaimed angrily as she took a breath to try to calm herself down, after all, she knew that if she let the person responsible for this one get into her head, things would end up much worse.

"Miledi Raisen, you are the most horrible person I've ever met!" - Shea roared angrily as her ears pricked up - "You are the greatest enemy of mankind!"

Cloud said nothing in response, he could feel his blood boiling with fury because during their first run, they had been hit by one trap after another, and being physical and unable to use detection magic because they were in a place that forbade magic other than [Body Strengthening], made this place a living hell.

"What do we do, Cloud?" - Yue asked as she looked at her husband.

"I guess all that's left is for us to move forward and mark the area, so maybe find the pattern this place uses to change" - Cloud answered seriously.
