Watching a new perspective

The evening passes faster now that her full living attention is here. She has been attending this school as both the disabled mute and a masked night lecturer which by daylight hour wages is a teaching assistant position. Came dawn, and a message was sent about the students who lived in the care home being missing or dead. The school assemblies for each year group were presented to explain to all students of the tragic event. Return to class was gloomy, dancing with so many flavours on her tongue. She hovered at the edge of the shadow, watching the foot traffic of students and spying out on those that would have cared about her mute version of herself. Teenagers don't disappoint, mix emotions and are ungrateful.

"This is where you were." Curiosity had left for a little while back to his realm but he came back so quickly. This behaviour isn't like him. He actively seeks to be her attention, not like back in the care home. He knows who she is, putting her to distrust whatever is going on with him. She can't do anything much without intervening in things she shouldn't be.

"Lady Moon." approaches a student from a group that hung out with her mute persona, "What will happen with the students that died?"

"You have to respect the way you lay the dead to rest. Until then, they are stuck here. When it comes to any funeral, attend to make any words off your chest go away. They will hear you, but they can't change anything now. They are dead. It is only right that the living mourns to move on." The small crowd moves away from such advice. The way each student shows grief or delay of emotions is by telling of what they do in extreme circumstances. Not always a good thing.

"Luna, I have a few moments to go through. To see you among us in daylight seems highly valued." The headmaster softly posed a hand on her shoulder and walks them away from it all. Taking a shortcut around to his office, through staff use. Curiosity got left behind and prevented from being at her side once in the office.

"Good..." The headmaster relaxed glaring at the door, "You should start where you know things. If you know what's going on."

She raised her brow but she plays along with his choices. Not having the undertaker here improved things too, but she stays some guard

"There been a chaotic disorder of the compendium of all things in the known universe. Entire realms have been moved and new classifications have come. Everything has been off skewed." She tilts at how he doesn't understand, "Something so big like this has taken my attention. You know that I am a neutral person. I pick no undertaker kingdoms to serve but in classification, I am an undertaker husk. Use this as you will."

"Then by the new way, I ask things. What is your soul status?" He sighed this was not what he meant by changes he was afraid of.

"I am a grounded living human with a unique soul. I have been reborn as a Seer, but an off-branch. I am not in favour of any Tricksters. This means when the living realm reverts. I revert with it." And he widened in shock but now things made sense. He assumed as her outsider status, she would be able to avoid being time pulled, "But I am a unique being of the soul. I am a keeper of two segments. I have statuses across many places beyond the known boundaries of the known universe. I am aware that something is wrong with this universe's death realm. Birds. Oath walkers increase. Undertakers acting abnormally. The tomes reshuffle is an extensive and extreme reaction. I will guess there was a trigger, and it has awakened many powers that shouldn't be in living lands."

"When King Shock was beheaded by internal revolts. Grim reapers were being removed from the oath of death, they had been sheltered by undertakers. Further was that the seven deadly sin Lords of hell have fled into the living realms, hiding from unseen powers and changes to how status works. There is more at work here than what I can see. I fear my servants in my territory will make changes against my order. Or worse."

The demon stays single-minded to his problems at least, but he sees a bigger picture working against him, "So I was afraid of what would happen to someone I relied on upon with court dealings, you."

"I am still a crippled student underneath the great abilities I hold. I am still bound to my duties in keeping Cog soul names protected from harm. I am the keeper of broken fragments lost from once completed souls." She folds her arms as she has always, "If I need to go back to making candles, glyph warding kits and charms of protective god orders. I can. I have a long queue of beings that would love my craft. I am however not convinced that I should return to tome restoration projects. I am no longer an index keeper in this universe, thus I have no loophole of authority to fix enactments." The headmaster is stuck on the spot for getting what she said correctly dealt over in his mind. The conditions she will have been through had been the direct keeper of the index at some point and now seemingly not anymore. Hot air rolls off him and then turned chill cold. She took a seat at a student chair and removed her mock glamour. Adding that is a sword cane at her side, and that she is wearing the student uniform at the year level she belongs to. She reclines in the prolonged silence.

"So you are the soul that left the universe." He leans back.

"When I did, I looked back at the ruin of everything. There was a reason why I the index keeper at the time fled. If I could protect by taking the key chapters with me, I could save us all from the collapsing of boundaries between waking and sleeping realms. But a domino effect was at play, the gods made it faster happening and I was a weak girl being chased by a soul snatcher. A soul snatcher that was given her name and sold as a slave." She spoke honestly at heart from this, "I ran to neighbours of other universes like ours or parallel to us. I was able to live and die short many lives. But it was the same life, always a weak human caught in afterlife problems. I tried many ways to make it work. Took all sides at some point. A devoted Seer turned Trickster in one life. I murdered them all the next. I fled again from the insanity, my soul creaked every life price I made. I stayed a spirit and wandered lost. Beloved by lizards. I made new connections and my enslavement from bad to worse. As it turns out, the soul snatcher was a criminal in many universes. So when the debt was paid due, my soul name and my enslaving curse fell to much scarier beings. I could lie in saying it was all bad. I was allowed to by myself and my name if I did a request that no soul wished." She summons out the Scythe of the bone blade, "I crawled in the guts of fallen dream worms, those that ate existence. I hand-picked souls. I was taught things by the souls that I saved and by the new masters who owned my soul name. My service was rewarded freedom." She puts it away, "But like my soul that been now dust from the many lives and existences I had experience. This universe also was page fragments floating in bloody gore." She sees how much the demon cares from this point. He was intense in listening and waved that she needed to continue. She smiles glad he is, "I found power in my unique changes. My soul of sand was exactly what I needed. The index I saved from the total breakdown. The fragments of the original pages were still holding intact souls. I poured my soul into the books and I pulled back time itself. I was many lives living all at the same time and at different places across this universe. Each sand grain was its being of experience and life. But I am still collectively myself. This broke laws, many thousands of laws. Some soul fragments bleed into others. A dead walked among the living to name an example. A mortal born in an immortal realm. I did exactly what I was taught by my ex-masters. The skills I was taught in fixing realms, corridors and gates. I know many things I shouldn't and the workings the cog ranks do to keep it all safe." She straightens, "When things were back to the beginning, back to stable and that there wasn't a need for me anymore. I was back together and I have retired. I retired as the index keeper because I was done. I will not be praised for my deeds. I will never be human fully. I am just a crippled being both body and soul. I exist for as long as my human life will be. I don't know what will happen to my soul when I die. Death can't reap my soul. He tried as many versions have."

She does feel better that she said this, the burdens she carries were weightless once more. The headmaster takes his time processing things. He does go to ask something but is closed again, afraid of learning something he shouldn't. Being him to look to a gift she gave him when she spirits entered as a spirited student. She made a double application, and she gifted him an abnormal copy of the guide to the dearly departed. The book all oath walkers carry in universe law checking, information about creatures of the sigil and the laws of encounters. He opens the guide and given its cursed way, it was on the exact page he needed. Reading into the information this version provides. He stops and took out the guide for this universe, the pages that he attempted weren't the same. He couldn't find what he needed in that one.

"You are the wandering undertaker, the mythical rank that sealed voids of erased existence. But that isn't true... you were bending the rules to bring back from erased existence." Puts both copies away, "I believe you. I know you are Miss Fallown, you never actually hide that from me. You know I am the protection of the territory of the demon realm that eclipses these living realm grounds. You came here when you faked your death because you know I would see past it all." He leaned at his desk in stress, "What are we going to do now?"

"Get on with whatever happens. As a human, I have a life to live. I suspect you have something to do and wishes towards. We have responsibilities but we aren't stopped from having moments of selfishness. We have free will or whatever. Maybe we're puppets on a god chess board but that doesn't change things. The undertakers, grim reaper and whatever are having catfights. So be it. I can't trust someone that stabbed me through the stomach." She gestures towards the direction and the headmaster gets it. She always had a strange boundary with Curiosity. She eased at standing up.

"Work with legal bounds, sale as you wish. Make as you need. Use the facilities. Your teaching covers costs. Live in the teacher's annexe from now on. You understand that no undertakers can be there." She softly nods.

"But it wouldn't stop the real him. If he wants my true help, he would be so shy at showing his real face to me." She seems to sing in the human voice, "Such burdens cast shoulders off you both." The headmaster frowns at finding her words unsettling and touching in weird connections of things in his mind. She alters back to her mock adult form. She however doesn't hide needing the cane. She doesn't have to hide that much from him. She leaves the salt-warded office, she heads to her old student room clearing its content. It was for those days she was not picked up by the care home. She doesn't keep anything there that was important but she would like her drawings back. It's all she needs to take to her teacher assistant's room.

She settles into her new teacher's room, twice the space than a student shared accommodation, three in-wall closets. Each is labelled for what use; causal, work and Sigil armoury. She sees there are emergency kits like candles, salts and powders. There is a silver plain dagger hidden in the top reach. A copy of the guide of dearly departed along the shelve. There is a file cabinet of student work, she already unitised it for her class. She has her private desk in here, already covered in grading and current lesson plans.

She sit at her bed and simply sort of collapsed in exhaustion, she pushed herself a lot today and all of last night. The preparations to make her other life have a funeral and the issues connected with bank accounts from late parents. The lawyer was the only way for her sister to be in contact with for anything. In due time, she will have spirit visits. She never even seen her parents or grandparents visit her in ghost form, so there had to be something blocking this. It maybe because of cog rank she obtained or her soul status changes.
