Ivan
Sam snarled at me in annoyance, but he didn't look upset that I'd killed his friend.
That wasn't the reaction the other Wendigo had about it. Instead, they howled and cried out, looking at their fallen friend's body as if it was supposed to come back to life. Unfortunately for them, that wasn't happening, and soon they'd be joining him. I wasn't without mercy, but I couldn't show them any. These creatures who'd once been men were corrupted beyond repair, at least in my ability. Someone could undo what was done, but if I believed Sam's words, this was self-inflicted, so it's unlikely any of them would willingly take a cure.
'Max, where are you?' I reached out with my mind, wondering why they hadn't arrived yet. Vince told them where we were, hadn't he?
'Sorry, Alpha,' even in these thoughts, I could hear his struggle. Damn it, that meant they were being attacked. "We're dealing with a couple of things.'
