Thriving in barren soil

Nefretiri

You can't lose control in the middle of a crisis, but I wanted to so badly.

It took several minutes for Brandon to calm me down enough to take me back to the other room and even longer for Peter to convince me to let him check me. They had to remind me the pups were at risk, and I think I cried through the examination. It turns out I'd barely dilated, and only one of the pups had dropped. My water hadn't even broken yet. Somehow, all of the stress Ricky had caused hadn't pushed anything along.

My focus should've only been on the birth, but I couldn't stop thinking about that wolf.

Kali wasn't much better. How could she not think about him? He was our mate, and it was confusing. Chagan was her mate, but so was this wolf. Yet, we knew he was in the wrong body. Did that mean Ivan was supposed to have two wolves? How did that work?

What had Ricky done?
