  My heart raced as I stared up at him. This was my savior, my ticket out of this hell! But, I had to wonder. Did I even want rescued anymore? This had to be a result of that one condition, when someone is kidnapped and their captors start being nice. Stockholm I believe it was called. That had to be it.

  Paxton stroked the side of my face. It almost stung where he touched. I winced away, but he reached out, holding my head still. "Endure it. I know my touch isn't the most pleasing. Besides, we're going to have to get you out of bed and grabbing one of those pillars soon. I know where I need to leave my mark."

  I got out of bed but paused before grabbing anything. "Your mark?" I demanded. I wasn't prepared for that. "Isn't that just going to hurt more? And won't they be able to find you?"
