CHAPTER 1

  Karina

Life really was ever fair to me, even if I was the oldest of thirty siblings. Somehow, all twenty-nine of my brothers and sisters had managed to get wolves. All of them, even though they were younger than me. But did I get one? No, not Karina. I was forced to endure life without one, and that meant I'd never have the chance at a mate either. Even though mom had six men that loved her to death, I was destined to be alone forever. Alone and tortured. Maybe if I hurried home while people were still filtering out from the building, I'd have a chance at being left alone today.

"Rushing home so soon, Karen?" chirped a pretty blond cheerleader. She lounged against her boyfriend's cherry-red car and smirked over at me. "I thought we were going to have so much fun together." her eyes were filled with malice.
