Chapter 25

“Look at yourself, missy. I hope this time you’re going to get laid tonight.”

“I was happy the old Amy was gone for a while, and now she’s back,” I chuckle and say thank you.

I face the mirror and surprise to see myself—a new me in front of the mirror looks radiant and glowing.

I can’t help to not compliment myself. “Wow, I look—”

Amy answers, “Hot? Sexy? Yes. And you’re welcome.”

My phone rings and she hands it to me.

It’s Phoenix. My pulse quickens. What if he changes his mind?

“Answer that. I’ll take care of your things. Here are the shoes. Your mom gave it to me because I can’t afford a new pair,” she says, looking guilty.

“How did you know I’m going on a date with Phoenix, Amy?”

I groan when she bites her lip because I know she’s hiding something from me.

She raises her hands for surrender. “I shouldn’t tell you this because Phoenix asked me if what food you like, and he did mention that he wanted to take you somewhere special.”
