Chapter 72

  “Sandy!” I walk faster toward her. She snaps her head in our direction. She runs toward me, leaving the police officer behind, then the next thing I know, she launches herself and wraps her arms around me. Sam lets go of my hand, and I hug Sandy back.

  “What happened, Sandy? Can’t you at least call me? Why is there a cop here?”

  She pulls away from me to hug Sam. An officer of late twenties, medium-built wearing a blue uniform marches towards us.

  “Sandra, I’m not done yet.” He stops in front of us while his eyes are still on Sandy.

  “What’s going on here officer?” I ask with a stern voice.

  “I’m sorry, sir, but I can’t tell you any information unless you are related to the victim.” My jaw clenches.

  Victim?

  “You are gonna tell me or Sandy will do. Does she need to report it to the station or not? Because we have a place to go right now.” I cross my arms over my chest and look at the six-footer police officer.
