She got curious but calmed down herself. “You don’t have to do that, Captain Evan. I helped you—I mean Ethan, with my own will. Please, don’t get me wrong. I am expecting nothing in return,” she refused yet inwardly hoped he’ll insist. She needs to gather informations as much as she can.
“Would you believe me if I tell you that I am not a good man?”
She laughed it off. The idea is absurd, she thought.
“Your team members won’t be comfortable with you if you aren’t.”
“But I am telling the truth.” He seriously gazed back at her.
“Really? You’re joking, right?”
“I’m not. Why should I? I am a terrible joker, Captain Eve.”
For a second, she saw no Captain Evan. But just a man who has put his guard down.
“What are your plans after leaving the organization, Eve?”
“Particularly, make up for the times I have missed. Why did you ask?”
“Can I tell you a secret?”
