Chapter 142

  The room seems to be so enclosed that she thinks it has never been filled with fresh air. It is spacious but looks empty even with the paintings it has on the walls and some office stuffs. In the corner, a man on a call is waiting while busy checking something on his laptop.

  She couldn’t help but to raise a brow. How can someone ask her to get prepared and then make her wait once she arrives?

  Rum hemmed, making Lux raised his head and looked not at her but to the man standing meters away from her.

  “Did you knock?” Lux glared at Rum.

  “I did.”

  “You did. But did she?” His eyes met hers.

  She took a deep breath and forced herself to give him a smile. “Sorry, I—”

  “Never mind. Just have a seat,” he cut her off.

  Rum peeked at her, mouthing, “I told you.”

  She let it passed and composed herself. ‘I won’t give you the satisfaction of thinking you won if that’s what you’re expecting.’ She thought.
