SIRIUS BLACK, INNOCENT?
That was the headline of today's newspaper, which had led to the current small pandemonium in Hogwarts.
Practically everyone who knew anything about the recent history of the wizarding world was freaking out and so were the one who didn't know after learning what this meant. They were freaking out so much that they did not realize that there were three students who were not freaking out.
"Guess you'll be meeting him soon." I said as I took another sip from my tea and looked at Violet, who seemed like she was trying to decide whether she wanted to be happy or if she wanted to go murder somebody.
It was understandable, even if she was happy about the thought of having family; that thought was corrupted by the knowledge of what happened to that family, the knowledge of betrayal that sent her into a deep rage.
It likely wasn't healthy, but better than the shivering little girl she had been at the start of the year.
She was getting better.
"You know where to find me if you want to talk." I said with a smile and got up, looking at her as she stuffed her mouth with pastries while glaring at me.
------------
"You are distracted." Jonathan said as he hovered over with his hands behind his head, looking down at her in the flickering void of whiteness.
"Considering today's news, so is everyone else." Daphne said with a huff before yelping as the void around them changed into a cave with rocks closing on her.
"You are a telepath Daphne, concentration is the very backbone of your power. A telepath that can't concentrate is a vulnerable one." Jonathan said with a glare as he suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Why do you always act like the world itself is out to get us?" Daphne asked with a frown. She had been hiding her power for years under her father's orders but the way a boy of her own age was acting when it came to it was concerning.
"Because we are different Daphne. And that's the only reason for the world to turn against us. The mankind is already tearing itself apart for worthless things like skin color and religion. Or ancestry." He said as he gave her a pointed look and Daphne huffed.
Jonathan had made his views on blood purity known early in their lessons. 'Worthless' was what he called it. It was a view that she had hard time accepting.
Sure, she knew that most of the crap about 'mudbloods' and others being 'lesser' as Malfoy and her cronies spouted on and on was just that, crap. But she was still raised to acknowledge and respect her ancestry, to care for the accomplishments of her family.
For her Jonathan's way of looking at the past was completely alien and almost impossible to understand.
"I do not intend to change my mind Daphne. The way the families in this community care so much about past is simply another reason for their weakness. They are too busy clinging onto how great they used to be to actually become great themselves." He said with a scoff.
"One day you'll say those words to the wrong wizard and get yourself really hurt." Daphne said with a huff as she tried to push the rocks back, only for her surrounding to return to the white void; only with a giant version of Jonathan holding her in his palm.
"I have yet to see a wizard great enough. Or has little Lyra not tell you all about how she got humiliated when she tried to sic some third years on me?"
"So it was you." Daphne said with a sigh, not even trying to dispel the mental illusion anymore. The whole Slytherin house knew that Lyra and several of the second and third years had tried to do something that had ended up with all of them except Lyra ending up in Hospital Wing but none of them were willing to admit to what had really happened. Which made sense if they had gotten beaten up by a first year. It also explained…
"Lyra is scheming something involving you." She said, getting a giant raised eyebrow before Jonathan threw her in the air and they were suddenly in the Slytherin common room; sitting on chairs.
"Really?"
"She's been quiet, strangely quiet. And everyday she sends you weird looks, I think she might be planning some sort of revenge."
"Then I have something to look forward to." He said before laughing as he saw her shocked expression. "Don't be surprised. I told you, there is nothing in Hogwarts that can pose a threat to me. Whatever this 'scheme' Lyra has prepared, it's only purpose is to entertain me. Because that's all it can do at the end of the day."
