Nothing More Than Conjecture

Anthony Shaw was furious when he saw Jenna Mitchell walk into the courtroom. What was she doing here? She wasn't a valid witness to this case! Unless…was she the heavily made-up girl with purple hair that had been with Jonas and the FBI agent?

That would explain what the boy had been doing in Santa Barbara in the first place. And the presence of the FBI. They might not have been tracking his movements at all; they might have been there for Jonas and Anthony's timing simply happened to be terrible.

"Jenna Mitchell is here," he hissed to his lawyer. "What are we supposed to do about that?"

Marshall looked up and a thoughtful expression crossed his face briefly before he pitched his idea. "I don't know but we may be able to use this to our advantage. They aren't allowed to use any evidence from the old case so if we discredit her testimony as being biased against you, we might have a shot."
