Intersecting Lines

When Jenna finally composed her thoughts enough to speak, it still came out faintly. "Why…why would you do that for me? You don't even know how much it will cost! What if it's more than you can afford?"

Bryce shrugged. "I can't imagine it costing more than $500. You probably need a new battery and maybe a couple of connecting parts. I can do at least that much."

"But you don't even know me! That's a lot of money to drop on a virtual stranger!"

"Like I said, my girlfriend never made it to vet school but she talked about it all the time. It was her main driving force. So if I can help someone achieve her dream for her even a little, I want to do it." 

Jenna's heart ached. The way he talked was matter of fact but she couldn't ignore the sadness in his eyes. "You…really loved her, didn't you?"
