A Man Of Action

Vera was completely drained from crying by the time she made it back to her apartment and Casey stood there at the door when he was dropping her off, rubbing the back of his neck and looking around. "Um, Vera?"

"Yeah?" she sniffled. 

"You seem really tired and probably don't have the energy to cook but you do need to eat something so can I come in and make you dinner?"

Her eyes widened. He had already done so much for her today. "You would do that for me?"

"Yeah, if that's okay. You've suffered a shock. Someone needs to take care of you and I don't think anyone else is about to do it so—"

Vera gave him a weary smile. "That's so nice of you. Thanks."

"No problem," Casey said, seeming relieved, as she let him in and he headed straight for the kitchen to see what was available while she collapsed on the couch and closed her eyes.
