It Was An Accident

"Go away, Casey. I'm busy."

The cold, unfeeling voice of Clayton Parker was one of the first things that stuck out in little Casey's mind. Daddy always told him to go away.

Most of the time he pawned Casey off onto the nanny but when she wasn't here that job was left to Candy. He didn't like when Candy was in charge because she was mean.

Casey had wanted to show him the picture he drew at preschool today but he didn't want to see it. Miss Zoe had said it looked so good too! He would just have to take it back to his room. He didn't want Candy to see it.

"Whatcha got there?"

He flinched when she popped up out of nowhere, her brown eyes that were so similar to his glimmering with curiosity. "Nothing."

Candy didn't believe him and snatched the drawing out of his hands. "What's this supposed to be?"

"Our house."

"Our house isn't red! You made it look like it's bleeding."
