Billboard? Is this the same billboard that the two students discussed the other time? The billboard is quite massive and is hung on a 9-meter pole. This is not your typical billboard where posters are displayed; rather, it is similar to the ones seen in LAS VEGAS, which look similar a flat screen.
Alan scoffed, uninterested, "Why are we here?"
"Look at the billboard, don't you see what it says?" Lizzie uttered.
"The billboard says that the authority has decided to discard it because it is no longer in use," I read aloud from the billboard.
Lizzie narrowed her eyes at the billboard and adjusted her glasses, saying, "You haven't read it all, girl."
I squinted my eyes and read aloud, "...but yet another decision has been made that only the most eye-catching content can keep it staying and huge prizes will be given."
"So, what does this have to do with us, particularly me?" "We've seen it, so what now?" Alan griped, his I don't give a damn attitude intact.
"I was so bored, the lab instructor was just yakking about the ferret we were dissecting and I got ticked, so I just glanced through the window and saw this on the billboard and an interesting thought came into my head right away," Lizzie smirked slyly and grinning.
"No, I don't agree with what you're about to say; I have a bad feeling about it," I expressed my displeasure.
"Come on," Lizzie said, prodding my shoulder as she cracked a smile.
"So, what should we do about the billboard?" "Don't tell me we're going to make a video because I'm not ready for that right now," Alan said.
"Alan, you are my buddy and you should never say no to me," Lizzie took a deep breath facetiously, putting on a pouty face.
"Fine, but don't expect me to team up with her; it's the last thing I want to do right now," he said again.
"I'm also not interested in doing anything with you; you make a fuss that I flatter myself, but you do it as well; I'm not sure why the Kim Hugh girls adore you." "Do they even see this side of you?" I scoffed.
"You both argue so much and it drives me insane, so please just stop," Lizzie exhaled deeply for both of us to hear. "We're all in this together."
We exchanged no words, and I rolled my eyes at him.
"So you skipped class?" I asked, flummoxed.
"I did it, believe it or not. When you have a friend like Alan, things like this happen ", Lizzie sarcastically joked.
"Don't say things like that about me when she's here, you're my friend," Alan replied, visibly upset.
I rolled my eyes at him, as if everything he said was fucking dumb, and then I observed two students our yrs wearing a starbucks coffee costume and a cap. Then it occurred to me that I needed to find work as quickly as possible.
"Lizzie Let's have a private conversation without Mr. Grumpy listening in ", I told Lizzie, furrowing my brows at Alan, who was staring at me in the same way.
"All right," she said, and we went a little further away from Alan.
"Actually Lizzie, I need to take a job?" I whispered hurriedly as I placed my hand on her shoulder.
Lizzie's mouth fell open and she was startled, "I don't grasp what you mean?"
"What I meant was why I need a part-time work, I feel too worthless wherever I am and have nothing to do, I'm a loner and you are the only friend I have, and I also don't know anywhere else in Arizona," I added quietly again.
Lizzie answered, with a nod "You've asked the right person, gurl, although I'm not familiar with anywhere in Ariz, but I know a lot of people who can assist you. Alan is an Ariz homie, so you should probably ask him "..
With a roll of my eyes, I remarked, "I can't ask Mr. Grumpy because, as you know, we don't get along very well. I requested you not to mention him to me, and please don't tell me anything about him because he's a sociopath..."
"Girl, take it easy! Okay, I won't say anything about him to you, but I don't like it. You're both my buddies, and I don't like how you're acting toward each other "Lizzie chastised.
Three guys approached us, prodding one another as they walked in our direction. One was wearing a hoisted backpack, the other was holding his books in his arms, and the third was carrying nothing but a cross bag around his waist. They were Alan's friends, and while I haven't spoken to them or had any direct contact with them, I do know their names because, like Lizzie and Alan, they are well-known in Kim Hugh.
"Yoo Alan, Hiya Liz, I heard you ditched class Liz," Dicky said, fist bumping Alan.
"Yup, I did," Lizzie took a deep breath, folding her arms. "I s'pose Lizzie is exposing her sassy left flank now, honestly boi, I'm tired of seeing her act like a nerd," Mason said, gesturing with his finger.
"Now you think you can say such things about me," Lizzie nudged his head, "we need to act matured at college so that people don't think we're like our relatives, who are only concerned with their own popularity."
After Lizzie said that, everyone looked downcast.
"Come on, guys, don't make that face again. Especially not with Ms Wacko here," Alan said, trying to lighten the mood.
"You shut the hell up Mr. Grumpy, Lizzie, you were telling me something the other time about me acting sweet to him," I said, unable to keep my cool as Alan called me Ms. Wacko. The simple fact is that Alan Wolfe and I will never be friends, at least not in the nearish future.
Lizzie touched my shoulder with her palms and remarked, "She isn't a Wacko, Alan. Never mind, guys, meet Jessie, my roommate and best pal."
"Isn't she the downer?" Mason questioned, looking at me as if he was scrutinizing me.
That did hurt me, but I had to keep my feelings to myself because it was partly my fault.
"I've always taught you, Mason, don't talk before you think," Ken chastised.
"Mason is always like this, so don't pay attention to anything he says. By the way, my full name is Kennedy, but I prefer Ken "Ken beamed as he said this.
With his smile and friendly demeanor, he gave me the Toby vibe. Ken has a decent sense of style, more of a jean and tee sort of guy, whereas Toby's sense of style is more of a sizzling clothing choices.
I returned his smile with a nod.
"By the way, I'm dicky," muttered another guy with a headphone, a swift smile on his face.
"What's wrong with you guys? I'm sick of standing here and watching you all pitch yourselves to Ms Wacko. Don't even think about warming up with her "Alan sassed, clearly agitated.
Alan walked away, leaving everyone behind; the other guys followed him, pursed lips in a "I'm sorry" gesture, leaving Lizzie and I alone.
Lizzie snorted, "What the hell just happened!" "Don't be alarmed, Jess; my friends aren't always this way. They aren't what everyone claims "Lizzie said it again, this time with a reassuring grin, and we both walked away.
