Jaxen

"So I'm basically his trophy wife now for as long as he wants me I guess. I have to stay at his place and everything." Adara says as she pops another popcorn into her mouth.

"What's so bad about that? I've heard he's got good money."

"You're not listening, are you? I don't care about the money. I just don't wanna be tied down all the time. And the fact that my brothers knew what they were planning and yet they told me nothing."

"Probably because they knew that you run," I smirk.

"I mean of course I would! But-"

"So let me get this straight. You don't want a husband?"

"I mean I do, later in life, I guess. But I want to at least have the chance to get to know them and shit."

"True but Rey isn't all that bad from what I've heard. He's good with the ladies-"

"I don't care! He could have the biggest dick on this earth and I still wouldn't marry him. I prefer men who don't buy me, thank you."

I laugh a little, thinking of how this would all go down when Rey arrives.

Our conversation came to an abrupt stop when we both hear a sharp knock at his front door.

"See that bookshelf over there? There's pull the first bottom book go inside and don't make any noise. I'm guessing they've caught up to you."

"I thought you said they wouldn't find us! Damnit!"

She quickly nods and does as I tell her to, trying to move as quietly as possible. Once I see her slip inside the dark room I turn to open the door.

"Where is she, Jaxen," Rey asks as he looks around me.

"Where's who?" I reply calmly.

"You know exactly who I'm talking about. Adara. I know she's here."

"Oh, Zarcone's daughter? Why the hell would she be here?"

"That's none of your Goddamn business."

"Wait let me guess, if you're looking for her here then that must mean that she's running. Running from you or her parents I suppose?" I might not be a part of the Diamonde's anymore but I still hear things."

"She's just scared. I'm not going to hurt her. She's my wife."

"Wife? We're doing arranged marriages now? That's a new low for Zarcone. Didn't you ever think to be in her shoes? What if she doesn't want to be your wife?" I ask, cocking my head to the side.

"I'll discuss that with her. But I won't be able to do that unless she gets out and talks to me."

"I'm here. Talk," she says as she emerges from the bookshelf. With a blazing red pistol in her hand pointed directly at Rey. She looks fucking gorgeous. Red gun, red summer dress. It's too bad that she belongs to Rey. And he never likes to share. I give her a look not to do anything crazy. I should've known she wouldn't listen and stay put. She never does.

"Come home with me and we'll talk about this whole situation," Rey says as he looks at her.

"No. How will I know that you won't just take me and keep me in your basement or something?"

"Drop the gun Adara, I just want to talk."

"Talk? You and my parents pretty much just ruined my already miserable life. If you wanted me as your wife all you had to do was show up at my doorstep and ask my father for my hand in marriage as any normal person does."

"I know, look. This wasn't my decision. I just-"

"It was your decision. You didn't have to buy me.

"I was trying to help you!"

"Help me?! With what! This isn't helping me at all."

"I'm sure you don't want to go back to your father? I know how much you hate him."

"I don't-"

"Don't fucking lie to me."

"She can stay with me." I interrupt.

Rey whips his head to now face me and he looks livid almost.

"Fuck no. When I bought you, I planned on keeping you. I'm not changing my mind."

"Then I'm not going with you," Adara says sternly.

"You know I can just take you right?"

"Oh, so you're threatening me now? I have the gun here."

"And I don't have one?"

"Alright stop. Both of you bickering annoys the shit out of me. Since he doesn't want you staying here, you go to him or back to your father's."

"I thought you were on my side Jaxen! You know what, fine. I'll go with you and we'll talk. I rather eat dirt than go back to that unstable household."

"Let's go th-"

"But, I want my things and I want Melanie to come with me."

"Done. Let's go."

I sigh and watch her go upstairs to get all of her things.

"If you weren't working for me, you could've been an actor. You didn't need to do all that shit."

"I had fun doing it," I grin before I face him.

"You really don't want her to know that we know each other?"

"Fuck no, at least, not yet anyway. I just don't want her to feel like I just handed her over. She already hates the hell out of you from what I've heard. The thought of her marrying you is making her sick to the stomach. Like she actually gagged. It was quite funny to watch actually." I lightly laugh.

"Well, she has no choice. Wait until I tell her that she needs to have my babies-"

"What?"

"Yeah, I need her to have my heir."

"You're kidding, right? Please tell me that's a joke. Do you think that she's going to let you even go near her? Good luck with that." I say before I go upstairs to help Adara with her things.
